Thanks, Benjamin - it's always great to hear some encouraging words from a fellow composer! I'm trying to keep up with the pros, meaning you, and some of these other really talented composers here. It's tough, but maybe I'll get there eventually. It feelsl like I'm not even halfway there yet. And of course, I love your work, you already know that. :-) Best of luck with your placements as well, Benjamin! /Christian

Hey Christian-

I enjoyed your new song "Glory To The Brave One".

Well done.

Thanks a lot Benjamin! I think it's my best so far in that genre, but on the other hand, it could be the typical illusion of "I-have-just-finished-a-new-song-an d-it's-my-coolest-ever", and after a week, I will be more sober in my judgement. :-)

"Dear Christian,

Congratulations! It is my honor and pleasure to personally inform you that the song "The Raving World Orchestra" has won Third Place in the Instrumental category in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition. With over 15,000 entries from 115 countries, this is a remarkable achievement, and ISC and its judges applaud the skill and dedication to the craft of songwriting that this win has proven. "

Thank you, ISC! I am overwhelmed!

Hey Christian, I listened to Dark Tidings today. Wow. You are the real deal. I live here in Madison, Wisconsin close to Roy. We are friends. I think your compositions are amazing and the use of the libraries is phenomenal. I am a piano guy. I have to say my use of orchestral libraries is simply beginner. I would love to collaborate with a guy like you on some of my bigger pieces. I use Logic. I have a Steinway B in my studio. I use top end mics and have 35 years of theory behind me. I am working on a big number now that could use some help. I wonder how you feel about collaborations. I am an ASCAP composer and have an ASCAP publisher membership as well. My company has worked with the world's largest libraries and I have nice accounts producing royalties. All that aside, I just would love to work with somebody with some chops as serious as mine on the piano. If you need to get a reference on me, just ask Roy Elkins. Have a great day.

Hello Adam!

Thanks a lot for your very kind words. Actually, I remember I wasn't very fond of Dark Tidings while I worked with it, but I've licensed it a couple of times, and I'm also really glad to hear that you like it!
By the way, I've been to Wisconsin once - Green Bay. We have some friends there. It's a really great and beautiful state, and I would love to go there again one day.
Thanks a lot for all your very kind words of my arrangements. I use Cubase 4 + a big bunch of different VST-instruments.... and actually, it feels like I have just begun to scratch a little on the surface. The big problem is time. I mean, we live here on Planet Earth for only 65-80 years when there's so much wonderful music to write... I need at least 200 more years! :-)
Actually, I feel like a beginner - you've got 35 years of theory behind you, and also having a Steinway B in your studio - that's truly fantastic! Music has been a great part of my life ever since I was a child, but when it comes to composing, I am mostly self-taught. Also, I'm not a good piano player, so if you need help with that, you got the wrong guy. :-)
However, I have a good knowledge about harmonies and it feels like I've got a natural way of finding interesting harmonies and building up an orchestral setting around a melody, and also knowing where in my library that I can find good instruments. I think that's my strength. So when it comes to ideas and inspiration around a musical arrangement, and maybe how to utilize a full orchestra of virtual instruments together with your composition, I might be of help. Maybe I can come up with some ideas and find some potential that you haven't thought of. Would that be useful to you?

I have never been part of a music collaboration projects before, probably because I'm still quite new as a professional composer, but if you believe that I could help you out in some way, it would be really interesting to give it a shot. And if this was not what you were looking for, no problem at all. It's always nice to chat with talented composers, like you, on this kind of forums, and I will definitely check out your work. I am sure I have a lot to learn.

Best Regards & Happy Eastern Holidays
/Christian
