Hi Melsi, thanks for your kind comments about my songs. I've been listening to a few of yours - 'inhale life, 'no more chances' and 'way you loved me'. All are good but i like 'no more chances' the best. I see you describe yourself as a lyricist - do you also write the music? Or do you collaborate? Personally I find lyrics the hardest part of song writing.
thanks again
Johnny

by the way I should have said 'you loved my way' - not 'way you loved me' - that's the title of one of my songs - got a bit muddled.

Hey there Johnny
Thanks for taking the time to review Joy to Be a Mother. I wrote that a LONG time ago. Even before I became a mother. I wrote it as a baby shower present for a friend. But it came true when I had my daughter and son. Now our kids are grown up, married and have kids of their own. So I guess I need to write a new song: What a joy to be a grandmother, right? God bless you over there in Liverpool! Mrs. Kate in Florida

Hey Johnny I just reviewed one of your songs, I enjoyed it, and my last review I got was from you I had meant to say Hey and thank you for being kind. I did chuckle when you thought the song could have been just a wee bit shorter. Well because I sing stories maybe you won't get a song I am working on that I took from 26 verses to 16 what a job that was and to do it and have it make sense in a good story line was not easy but it was fun. I love all the old ballads. Well keep the music coming.......Best regards.......Delta

HI Johnny,

Thanks for the kind review of my song, "Waving Prairie". It won the "Best Folk Song Contest" a couple years ago at Broadjam. It was recorded back in 1972 in San Francisco at Wally Heider's studios. It is also the title tune to my second album, "Waving Prairie".
Stop by and listen to more tunes, if you are so inclined.

Best,

Chet Nichols

Hi Johnnie, this is an amazing song with strong lyrics! I can relate, I am an army wife and my husband did two tours of Iraq. I wrote a song about it called A Girl and Her Soldier if you feel like having a listen. Your song feels like it might be more about the World War 2 era, but war is war unfortunately and we can't seem to escape it. Great job!! :-)

Hi everyone. In response to the encouraging reviews I've had which have often advised adding more instruments I've uploaded a new version of We Were Soldiers. This has banjo/harmonica as well as the original ukulele. I would be very grateful for any comments re this new version

Hi Johnny, thanks for reviewing ,"This Is My Life". I often wonder about the length of it....and you're the first one to ever comment on it so I really appreciate that. Perhpas, someday, if I ever get the chance to re-record I'll take blue pen to paper and make some cuts :D

Yo Johnny,
Thanks for your positve review of "Having Heard All This Before" I appreciate your suggestion for the extra eight in the middle, haven't been able to come up with anything quite right yet. Still thinking aboout it.
Listened to some of your tunes, very nice. I loved "We Were Soldiers" What is the instrument you are playing on your tunes? Is it a madolin? It gives your music a very distinct (cool) sound. Keep up the great work and keep listening. Post more tunes.
Thanks again,
JD Carroll

I play just a ukulele on 'we were soldiers', ukulele/ banjo/acoustic guitar on 'if i believe in you' and ukulele/acoustic guitar/accordion on 'for you'. Thanks for listening to the songs - it makes it all worthwhile to know that someone has listened.

Hey Johnny,

Thanks for the nice review of the live recording og my song, "(Spinning On The) Time Loop" ... recorded live on 9.11.1973 at The Cowtown Ballroom in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

This is the title tune to my first album, "Time Loop". Stop by my website and listen to the band track featuring Nicky Hopkins on piano. Hot stuff!

Best,

Hi Johnny, Thank you for your kind review of my song, Cowboy Song. The title was intended to mislead because of course, it is a cowgirl's song. You are quite right, it is too long for radio (or internet) but was intended to be performed live with my band, Clay County. Best regards, Sue Nikas

Johnny: Thank you for supporting the BJam review mechanism and for your review of Someone To Lose. The spoken parts will remain but I appreciate your honest suggestion. As always, PGO.

Hi Johnny! Thanks for your generous review of "The Loon". Karen Smithson plays the flute. She's a classical player and really nailed the call of the loon. Terrific gal too, and has written a series of flute music lesson books.

Mr Armstrong, i do appreciate the kind words and the time you spent reviewing a song most consider an epic. thanks, Crawford Hurst

Jonny, Lad! I Believe in You, and thanks for the kind words on Overdose. You fuddle me with your request for more stings and wings (a common complaint) as yourself is a strong arm on the Single Folk Hero side. PGO and I are pals, and I would like to invite you to join the group. In addition, please check out fellow Brit Jim Pearson, as his Where Did Our Time Go? and Can You Live Without Me? are running in the same river with you. I am sending you a Friend request as we all need more (Friends.) Cheers! St. Nick

Hi Nick, thanks for the friend request. I too am a fan of all things acoustic. I will check out Jim Pearson.
cheers. Jonny

Jonny: always grateful when a fellow member takes the time to review. 'Lovehunters' was cut in my 8 track demo studio some years back. lost the master to a flooded storage facility but discovered the mix on a cassette. agree with you, always wanted to hear some Motown Sistahs or a rural Gospel Choir kicking in on the chorus. imagine the contrast! maybe one day. BTW: very much enjoyed 'For You' as my heart belongs to the acoustic side of life and these here mountains.

as always, your friend in music - PGO
