You're much welcome! Your songwriting has always been great and it has also grown with you life's experiences. You put forth real life and real feelings and that's what sets the true artist apart from the rest. Yep, I have several old ones that have finally made an appearance recently, too.

Hi Mr. John Walradt. Thank you for listening to my most recent uploaded song "I PLAY". Your time is always very appreciated, and thank you for the generous rating. Like many of my songs, that were conceived in the last 2 decades, I am on a roll so to speak and hope to have more of them completed and on line in the near future, along with a mix of new creations. I wish you the best of success in your musical creations and other pursuits.
your friend always!

Hi, Pete Ben-jamin! You're very much welcome!

The concept and content of "Play" follows your quest to write meaningful songs to inspire healing and harmonize the earth. That's a wonderful life's work. I'd like to see a much bigger place for the work you do; that is, a larger audience to not only listen and feel the songs you write, but for something to think about and inspire to act on.
Right now my wife, Lora, and I are in process of selling our condominium (or condo-minimum, as I call it...heh, heh) located within too much activity, then to move to a town near Redlands, California, which should be much more peaceful and less repressive.
More later, my friend.

Hi again John. Thanks for your insight and the professional advice/direction. I'm going to look for such a place as a platform with a much larger audience. Right now, besides the broadjam community I am a VIPer member of a community called Home Studio Corner run by Joe Gilder. I am taking courses in recording, mixing and mastering to improve those areas in my musical efforts.
I hope you and your wife find a peaceful place to live. Phoenix is quite busy and large. My wife, Redonna, our puppy Cheyenne and I moved from Tucson to Jefferson Georgia in 2018 for a much needed escape with the hope of finding a peaceful retreat. It was perfect and the best 2 year vacation from a long list of family deaths and sadness. After 2 years we moved back, but to Marana instead, not by choice but by accident, plus I had a lot of clients wanting me and us back. Even though my very large family has been in Tucson since 1912, we are always looking for a better location, or locations while traveling the country. Being on the move seems to suit us as there's always new places to see and experience. I know you both will find the perfect place just waiting for you to show up.
Thanks again!!!
Pete

You're welcome, Jeana. Your tunes are always a beautiful listen. I don't usually get on Broadjam much anymore. Just enough to spend a couple of minutes. You're much welcome, Pete. I have several songs to complete as well and I'm working on one about global warming called "If the World Ends" and giving it a Roxy Music treatment as in their song, "Avalon." I also did some fingerpicking guitar and just found out it just doesn't mesh. Back to the drawing board! You really come up with beautifully layered compositions and a flair for pleasing melodies that have not so common chord progressions. That's a great thing to have! You also have thought provoking lyrics. Of my songs, my favorites are "Stay Here Now," "Far From Home," and "Raindrop Soul" which I consider my most beautiful song. A lot of people like "We Didn't Have Time Enough." If you have some you'd like me to listen to first, give me a list. I'll be happy to do that! Happy 2023 winter holidays to you as well!

You're much welcome, Scott. It's a cool piece. I took a guess it's an evolving piece. It's somewhat like a very dark instrumental I wrote called, "The Dark Shore," which was going to be for a film my older brother never made about a woman's body being found at night on a coastal beach. I never quite finished the piece and it needs a lot more instrumentation.

You're very welcome, Warren. Your first attempt has your poetic conversational lyrics and a very good melody, both of which you're always good at. My second country tune was actually intended as a pop tune until I was told it could work as a country tune. That was "Comes and Goes," my first crossover.

Hey John thanks so much for stopping by with some stars. "No Blue Song" was recorded with the last band that I was in with some amazing players and a great man at the production and recording controls. In fact he liked the song so much that he added a little bit of himself to it by putting in an amazing little lead guitar at the very end just after the last chorus. haha. Jack Chesterfield another friend gone way to early. Thanks again my friend. Scott

Wow, thank you, Scott! It was the third of a trio of songs I wrote in just a few months in 1977 that were inspired from taking my VW bus across the country in 1976. "Sunny Sunday" was first. "We Didn't Have Enough" was next. Then "Down East in a Harbor Town." "Down East in a Harbor Town" is Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Squirrel Island, is three miles offshore. The girl, Joan, is someone I had a crush on in junior high school. She hated my guts, but the name was good! It was December when I drove out to Spruce Point and looked across the bay at the island. I had just driven up there from Bard College where I visited long time friend, Russ Shane, and had an extremely short affair with a girl, Sheilla, which became "We Didn't Have Time Enough."

Yes John, there's just something about living next to a large body of water, whether it the ocean or the one of the great lakes, as I did, that just seems to get in your blood. There's a certain feeling you get after while that is difficult to explain but your song "Harbor Town" really captures that feeling just as "Edmond Fitzgerald" did. Not easy to capture an emotion like that but you pulled off perfectly.

Hi John,
Great to hear from you again! I absolutely vote you as one of if not...THE best reviewer on Broadjam. You always provide in depth, meaningful and helpful comments/perspectives in your reviews. It's obvious from your comments that you truly LISTEN to the song... noting technical and philosophical aspects.

I really appreciate your review on "I Make a Difference". Just the fact that you called out my intentional use of those same two notes placed every two measures is very percipient. That juxtaposed to me wife's lyrics reflects how something so simple... so seemingly insignificant... can indeed make a difference in so many ways.

Thanks for another comprehensive and useful review.

I'll be sure to check out some of your latest stuff... it's been a minute since I've been on your page.

Be and stay well,
Frank

Thank you, Frank! Trying to stay out of harm's way. I had to go into SMIL imaging yesterday. The scheduler said she would type into my chart that I prefer the staff who attended me to wear masks. We asked three times if my wearing a mask was okay. "Oh, no problem!" When I followed the tech into the x-ray room, she took off her mask and wanted me to take mine off, too. I told her I wouldn't. They weren't imaging my face. So she and another tech were put off. It took them a half-hour and did them over saying my mask was in the way. I was upset on leaving. Found out the scheduler did not put it in my chart. The manager said, "We follow CDC guidelines and we cannot force our staff to wear masks." Arizona is very much an anti-mask state. When Lora and I are out, more often than not, we are the only ones masked. We use N and K-95s. Politics and personal vanity must NEVER get in the way of physical and mental health! It is a huge flaw in our society and government. Anyway, trying to get my mind distracted again with my songs. I'm going to redo "Sunny Sunday" again because I really like Sofi's folky vocals and get Arden Snow's piano on there...and get the sound updated! John

So sorry to hear about your experience at SMIL.

I totally agree that politics and personal vanity must NEVER get in the way of physical and mental health. It's disappointing to hear that a facility that is intended to help and/or heal people, is falling short of respecting the patient's preference. To your point, that preference leads to comfort which in turn leads to mental wellness. And both Jane and I truly believe that our mental health has a profound impact on our physical health.

Hang in there John, and I hope all turns out okay for you.

Frank

Enjoyed Far from home again and Just another Weekend!
Song comes alive when the warm bass comes in, and your vocalist has a happy go lucky sound! The whole song has a friendly carribean influence!
So simple and effective melody.
Nice one John!
5 stars no bother!

Ride the wave would be a great background song for a surfing movie!
They need songs like this fir big sporting events!
Drums at the beginning set the tone for a solid, hard hitting song!
Again, five stars well earned young man!
What are you onto now?

I have a song on video here called, "Sunset" where the Lyric has no chorus, but is a story in the mould of Pete Seger, Gordon Lightfoot and Leonard! (Not that I am in their league of course)
Look it up!
I have not released it as yet, but need it somewhere I can get a link to share it.
Again, enjoy!
Good to talk!

John, Do you know how long I have been trying to get the right people to listen to the songs I have wrote and co-wrote. And I am still trying too to this day. It is very frustrating and discouraging trying to get strangers to listen. Even with the best pitch, email, subject line etc... Unless it is coming from a somebody that door is shut. I can't tell you how many emails I have gotten that said "Sorry but we are not accepting unsolicited material at the moment". Become a somebody then we can talk! Lol I added the last bit!... It is a tough nut to crack. But I am a tough nut to break as well and i don't give up easily especially when I get reviews like the one you gave today. Thanks again man

Hi John--I tried to reply to your comment but it's not working. Thanks for your kind comments and rating on "Until We Meet Again". I appreciate you taking the time to listen; you know how much I love wintry tunes! I started my practice session trying to come up with cute, short tunes for reels and instead came up with this one. I was in a solemn state of mind because my cousin passed away two days ago from a stroke. He was six months younger than myself. I originally named it "Last Goodbye" but I decided no one would listen to it with that sad title.

Hi, Jeana. Broadjam really has messaging problems. You composed a beautiful tribute and a sense of loss in the melody. It's really strange when someone close dies. It feels unreal. It takes a few weeks to get your balance back. "Last Goodbye" is one of those titles with such a finality. Though I remember a very popular song called "The Last Farewell" that oddly sounded like something that could have come from centuries before because of the language it used. We've been giving our cat Meka some different flavors of cat food lately. He loves fish. Now he thinks chicken is blah.

Author

Meka probably won't want to go back to chicken now. :-) Our cat Sebastian would only eat chicken. He hated any of the seafoodvarieties. Our new cat, Toby, likes everything we have ever tried with him, at least so far. He's just turning 5 months old this week and got neutered a few days ago. The heart murmur he had cleared up on its' own, so we are happy about that.
