Hi Nick, not getting your drift, never mind. I missed a word out on my comment regarding your latest song. The word was "really" as in "I really like your voice on this one". Listened to "happy song" going back a couple of weeks ago, with the live band playing, its very good!
Probally quitting broadjam as I don't get enough time to record, and its all a bit of a waste of time if you look at it realistically, the competitions are crap, the opennings zero...whats the point. I'm just going to carry on writing for my owm personal pleasure. If you took any offence by my comments it wasn't intended. Cheers Peter

Hi Pete. Thanks for your generous comments on "Goodbye should never be in springtime". Very encouraging. By the way, it's not me singing, that's my son Martin Luke Brown. He's writing his own stuff now. If you want to hear more of his voice, just search on YouTube.
I haven't done a lot of collaborative work; I tend to be a slow writer, so I always feel I may end up frustrating other parties involved. But I'm open to the idea. I'm just having a very quick listen to your songs. Lots of variety in terms of musical style and lyrical themes. Will listen more when I get a bit more time.

Your comments on my song "If I could Walk on Water" were a breath of fresh air. I love to sing and write and these are the things that mean a lot to me. The recording, and engineering of the whole thing is a work in progress. When I read a review like yours I know I think that that's the same way I would review the song myself.

Thanks Adam, yes I finally plucked up the courage to sing on one of my own songs. You are the second person to refer to Ian Dury - I used to love his band, saw then live a couple of times, what energy, he was a legend!

The idea came from the Tax evasion of a certain Irish rock star, moving his publishing company from Ireland to save tax, just when Ireland needed those taxes, and then preaching on moral high ground - sucks!

Cheers

Pete

Pete, Man! You Two is Too Cool. You sounded terrific. Maybe, you, Jim Pearson and I should take a whack at a trio? We are all cut from the same cloth of Unique. - Nick

cheers Nick, you don't know how much that means to me, as I have been loosing a bit of confidence with the song writting, and as a result haven't really done a lot lately. Hope you got who it was about, a certain Irish rock star, I would love to give the trio ideaa go as I like both you and Jim's work. Cheers Pete

Hey Pete,

"Her Love" enjoyed that tune I love her voice, I like the guitar parts might go for a bit different EQ, look at some more verb on the guitar to make it sound like it's in the same room as the singer. Like her vocal sound it fits her voice, maybe add a touch of deeesser on her. thin out the piano's lows and bring out higher freq. Great job cool song!

Pete, thanks so much for your great review of my song: COME ON HOME BABY. I'm the lyricist. I feel the same way about that vocalist. She's great. The studio did a fabulous job.
I don't know what you mean by more imagery. Can you give me an example? That would be helpful. I'm always trying to improve. Thanks again and much luck with all your music endeavors.

Thanks Nick, in my eyes she will always be a star no matter where life takes her. We recorded this last night on the eve of her return to London. Me on guiter and bass, Jenny (my wife) devised the very simple but effective piano line (I was going to put in an all too busy solo) and rachel singing her heart out. Just a perfect evening..oh such a perfect day (evening) remind you of a song?

What happened with the idea of doing some songs collectively, with other broadjam users... it would be really interesting.. I'm definitely up for it Cheers my friend
Pete

Pete, Her Love is another smash in a new direction! You are going to make Rachel a Star!
Just the sort of mood dropper I needed for 4:00 (tea time of the soul). May this be the first of many new songs to come! (OK, so I'm a little backlogged meownself, but I have good intentions...)

Pete, Saint of Woe. Just finished listening to your Trio of Bleakness, North Wind the bleakest of the lot. Much like NO MORE (which you reviewed with benign tolerance), I wrote it, but did not sing. I am a Yank to you, Jim Pearson is a Northern UK maverick who suffers criticism due to my dark influence. Your voice is God's voice, especially when you get to wailing on Standing On The Edge. I wonder what you will think of mine, which has been described as "unique, lazy, dead-sexy, and Nick doesn't really like to sing, does he?" I extend the Olive Branch as we have many mutual pals, and Lord knows, we can all use all the friends we can get in this World of Woe! - St. Nick

Olive branch accepted although I don't review with a veiw to creating bad feeling. I try and be as objective as I can I normally take a lot of time over writing up any feelings / ideas I may have (for what they're worth), in the case of the review of you song I think I didn't spend enough time doing so, in future I'll listen twice through to get the feel of the work. I really don't know what I was thinking not to have picked up on the sublime vocal of Jim Pearson, he really has an amazing voice. Pete,St of the embarrassed. I'll listen to your other songs and get back to you. As for my trio of Woe, they are pretty dark songs, I have replaced two with some slightly more uplifting work, but only slightly. Cheers Pete

Pete, Added Moving On to my playlist, as I love the pissed-off quality of the female-sounding vocal. A perfect foil to One More Chance, which no female short of an Angel would grant. I am astounded by your vocals, from Bullfrog to Prince! My own transition from Urban Folk to UnPop may be as startling, if I can ever get my bass back from the cat. - N

Hi nick, I write and play but you wouldn,t want to hear me sing. One more chance is a great welsh singer by the name of mal pope, movin on is my 17 yr old daughter who also sang north wind. I have saod in my profile that my voice leaves a lot to be desired. I just love writing..live for it speak to u soon pete

Pete. I would LOVE to hear you sing! They laughed at Willie Nelson when he first started, and kicked him off stage! A Unique Voice is a Great Voice. Your Bullfrog voice could be as good as Tom Waites. If you are too embarrassed to post a song with you singing, feel free to send one to me. I took a chance on No More, which I originally recorded pie-eyed, sent it to Jim Pearson, and he made it shine. But he was taken by the original, which most people would have found too Raw, and couldn't stomach. There are no Bad Voices to God! Sing without ceasing! - St. Nick

Many thanks for your kind review of my song "Happy New Year, Darling", Pete. You gave it high points and made some interesting comments. In fact, this is one of the few of my songs that I didn't sing & produce myself and it was also co-written. I take on board what you said however. Thanks again, John.
