Good to see two of my favo[u]rite folks connect!!!
Hi Jeff! Good to see you here!
I like 'Sixteen Years' Jim. Songs of irony, that's my forte'. Great songwriting, you are a weaver of words! Cheers!
Thanks Mike... I recognise you now, Nick pointed me in your direction... really enjoyed your YouTube videos. Jim
Mr. Jim. Eric and me likes your 16 years! Sure is countryfied for a Limey! You is one darn fine banjo player. Eric sometime plays his Granpappy's guitar liken one. You got good eyes! -Fever
My Favorite Song of Yours (Just a Game) makes the Top 10 Folk-Alternative with one on my least favorites of my own. Isn't that Life, or what?
Euro Top 10 Honors!!! I can see your band on Rhine Cruises living large.
Oh and I claim the bass or a guitar position or tambourine.
How about all three? It might just be you and me...
Just listened to the newest "Keeping Up" version. I really like this one with all the dirty tones.
Hi Jim, just listened to a few of your songs, really enjoyed them mate....refreshingly honest.....cheers John
Thanks John, that's very kind of you... I finished my third CD "Self assembly" earlier this year. It features quite a few friends/musicians that I have met online over recent years. You can download it for free from here... http://jimpearson.bandcamp.com/ 1 If you're on Facebook you could join me @ http://www.facebook.com/jimpearsonmusic 2 I'll reacquaint myself with your music later today. All the best from Jim
A-ha... you were right!! Thanks Nick.
Nowhere Fast is now on the Top 10 Pop-Alternative chart! Great Show, lad! Keep 'em Flying!
Thanks for reviewing my song. Will have a listen to yours also. :-)
Congrats on the over 51 contest!!!! I didn't know there was such a category, being a newbie....but it's nice to know now I have another category to enter :D. Great song, BTW.
Yes it's a bit odd, I don't know how that works either, I don't think you actually enter these things, they just seem to happen... I'm not even that old just yet :-)
You are a Timeless Wonder, my brother! When I was 13, people said I sounded 50. Now I am working on 13. - N
Go for it,sister! Personally, I like to remain in kindergarden....snacks, arts and crafts, naps, no tests, games, show and tell . It's a fine life!
Where did our time go, what a great song! regards Pete Ford
Thanks Pete, that is much appreciated!!
Jim, Congrats on making the Europe Top 10! See, you don't need a thousand plays to be Most Popular! Fame has it's downside, though..............
Just gone Primo... get me!
Yippie! Load em all. son! You are about to Shine!
Jim, No matter how many times I listen to "Where Did Our Time Go," it sounds as good as new! How many years are left in us, I am afraid I know. Let the red wine flow. -N
Preview of new CD... http://issuu.com/jimpearsonmusic/docs/selfassembly
Thanks Nick! I'm looking for people to write favourable reviews of the CD before it is "released". If you fancy it, I'd like to send you a copy. No problem if you don't...
Jim, You are now one of the Few and Proud to have listed to my entire CD, which is themed as the story of my first fiance and self, from the Joy Romance at the beginning "Eternally", to the devastatingly depressing "Beginning to End" last song, which is my hard-core fan's favorite. The actual last song is "No More", but I am remixing it ala Jim Pearson to add more demented instruments when I get my studio back up. Thank You for your Bravery and Perseverance! Note: I listed you as one of my Favorites for Roy, but only Last so it would make a Lasting Impression! - Nick
Hi Nick. How did you know I'd been listening to your music...? I didn't know you could do that. Well I suddenly felt like a complete hypocrite - asking you to review my songs when I hadn't given yours a good listen. Your songs are genuine, almost brutally honest, and cut through the BS of a lot of music that is "out there". I'm going to set up a page on "Bandcamp" to make it easier to listen to or download the complete album... I'll let you know when it;s done. Rgds. Jim.
Jim, Thanks for your kind words. I really am unsure why I write songs. I am not looking for fame or money, and am pretty sure I will never make the top 10. Your songs are the songs I'd rather write (see Roy's request for Favorite Songs on BroadJam), but I am stuck on the Dark side. Your songs spread Joy, while mine make people cry. You can tell who is listening to you (if you are connected to them) by checking your Notifications page. Every day, like a hopeful child, I look to see if I made anyone's Top 10. I wonder why I do it? Looking forward to your new CD like a child anticipating Christmas! Be Merry and Bright! - St. Nickolas
I know what you mean... this will be my third CD. The first sold 6 figures!! (I mean exactly 6). The second just 1 unsolicited sale... so it's not about the money or fame or anything like that. I have often thought about stopping, but really, why should I? Really I write music for myself, and I occasionally I make some really good like-minded friends. I found the comment you were referring to and I now have my first quote "All of Jim Pearson's songs are the light side of my dark side..." Great!!. Lastly, I thought I would recommend an album to you if you haven't already heard of him... John Grant "Queen of Denmark". It was out a couple of months ago. Dark, bittersweet, also funny, self-mocking and rich. Check it out on Spotify or something... it's my favourite album in a long time. Jim.
Jim, You are on the threshold of stardom! Who else makes the Top Ten in 3 Categories at the same time? All you really need is one break, which may come through BroadJam. To have you stop would close another Angels Voice in the Universe! I will check out John Grant. We all have the names of Saints. As for other favorites, mine was Robert Smith from the Cure. I loved that little guy, and wished I could be him. But now he is Fat and Happy with his Wife and Child, and refuses to play any more. His last song from Wish "End" was intended to be his last, much like my "No More" (on the boards). But we both went on. I suppose we are driven? - N
OK, check this out... http://jimpearson.bandcamp.com/album/self-assembly You can download for free, I'm thinking this id a pre-published phase. Two key things I need help on are, what genre should I "tag" myself as, and what other artistes do I sound like... as in, if some likes "x" they might like "me". But mostly just let me know what you think... Rgds, Jim
Jim, I downloaded your Self-Assembly CD, and it was a techno miracle that added itself to my Microsoft Media Player with the Cover and all the coded info! I have been listening to it for 2 days, but need more time to make a detailed review, which I will send you via BJ E-mail, as comments are public. I am particularly fond of the bass parts in the rock songs. Totally unleashed and cool! Hoping to send you a complete review by Thursday USA time. -N
Hi Jim, Many thanks for your review of Playground, very good advice given. Glad you also like Old Gang. You have 2 great tracks up here. I love the harmonies at the end of Be Yourself, and Over To You Bob is instantly catchy, I can't help tapping my foot along to the rhythm, nicely done! Richard
Thanks Richard. If you fancy it, please take a look at my new Facebook page... there are more songs there, if you want to stay in contact click the "Like" button at the top of the page. No pressure though. Jim www.facebook.com/jimpearsonmusic
Hi Jim, Thanks for your review of "Can You See Me". You're right in that it would have been much cooler to have a real violinst on that track. Players and $$ to pay them are hard to come by sometimes here. :) I'm listening to your track "Be Yourself"...cool track. I really like the energy in the Chorus...is that a banjo in there?! Cool stuff...nice big room drum mix too. And the orchestra bells were a nice touch. Great job! FrankLP
Frank, thanks very much for your compliments on "Bee yourself". You may be interested to know that the vocals on the chorus are sung by Janet Murphy, a singer I "met" after I reviewed one of her songs, here on broadjam! She also sent my song to her son Ryan who lives on the west coast, who also recorded some vocals... strange the way connections are made. Check out her profile - tell her I recommended her. Also, if you are interested, please visit my new Facebook page, clicking "Like" to keep in touch. www.facebook.com/jimpearsonmusic All the best from Jim
Jim. Thank you for your review of 'Ocean'. I know exactly what you mean. It was a useful and honest review. The Steely Dan reference is nice to hear, they being a big favorite of mine. Cheers. David
