Wow! Just reviewed your song.. under the false assumption that you were a man. So my bad. But you wrote damn fine song, regardless of gender! - Crawford Hurst
Ha ha, ya I guess my pic wouldn't be what one would be expecting ðŸ'
And thank you for the very nice review!! Going to check your stuff out when I get some downtime
Darling, I dunno what you're doin right now... but I dig the shit out of what you already done did. I liked every note that I heard and every lyric tied to it. There's definitely some Tom Waits banging around inside your soul... and I love the shit outta Tom Waits. I saw him in Tulsa ten years back when he was on tour for Mule Variations, and there's not enough time for me to tell just how mind blowing he was on that particular evening or what effect that's had on me. So know this, that there is a compliment that you had to earn. I don't just give those shits out. - crawford hurst
Wonder if you meant to send me the exact same message?!
Well bless you and the horse you rode in on, Craw! I'm making my 8th album at the moment. Just went across to Italy to record in a 15th century church in the mountains. Yes, Mr Waits has been in my soul since the 1980s and I was also lucky enough to see him on the Glitter and Doom tour. You might have spotted his guitarist Marc Ribot playing on my album too...you cannot believe what an incredible thing it is to sit in a studio with a whole bunch of Marc Ribot takes. The entire room were buzzing like kids at christmas. I've also got a huge love of Americans. I kind of fell in love with Texas without ever going there when I met some beautiful Texans in a hotel in Kansas City last spring but to be honest most Americans charm the hell out of me. I look forward to taking a browse through your back catalogue, sir. Many thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated. It's grey here in Manchester. It's pretty much always grey in Manchester. x
Took a few minutes this morning to check out a few your songs, especially given how encouraging and positive you've always been towards what we do musically. I really dig what I had a chance to hear from you guys! Very solid material and really good recording quality. I was quite impressed! As for recording your sister-in-laws song... well that responsibility falls on the broad shoulders of mr. Coleman. That said, I also passed along your message to him and I'm sure whenever he has a second he'd be glad to get back to you. However that might take him a few days or more. He's father to 2 beautiful children who are 5 & 2 years old, so, there's no telling when he'll find the time. But I'm sure he will. Hear incredibly humble and appreciative of any encouraging words. Also, you're absolutely right, he's incredibly gifted and always brings a singular creative style to every song we write. He's all about what's best for the song individually. No ego or pretentiousness. Without him, my words would be forsaken to die an unnoticed and obscure death. It's only because of him that my lyrics are brought to life, resurrected from the pages and cast into existence. He's a musical conjurer. And I'm undeservingly fortunate to call him my best friend. Again, I just want say thank you for your kindness and supportive critiques regarding our songs. It's always nice to hear, that despite their lack of mainstream appeal, they are still appreciated by some based on merit rather than commerciality. Yours truly, Cole Crawford-Hurst
Dear Cole, Amen Sir!! And that's coming from an agnostic!! Hee Hee!! Oh, and if you get a chance.......screw commercialism!! What's your favorite music presently??? I can't think of mine?? So, just write honest music and you will never lose!!! Art Corey Peace Please...someday???
Well Art, I'm a skeptic myself. And as for commercialism is concerned, fuck it on a big way. Currently I am listening to a few different songwriters. John Moreland, Slaid Cleaves, Dan Reeder, Tom Russell, Adam Carroll and Jason Eady just to name a few. Tonight my favorite song is Slaid Cleaves' "Another Man's Wealth." If you aren't familiar with it, do yourself a favor and find it fast. I've spent the last few years trying to write a song like this (unsuccessfully mind you) and I am thunderstruck by it. And I too will be damned if I work like a dog to make another man rich. Also, I spoke to Nick this evening and he plans on getting back to you regarding your sister in-laws song in the near future. Hope the soundtrack to my current life turns out to be a rewarding response. That said, if you are unfamiliar with any of these guys, I stand behind my advice 100%. They're writing the rights of a world gone wrong. Peace can't come soon enough, - ch

Dear Nick & Cole, Just listened to"Johnson Family Jamboree" what a terrific folk song, has a Woody Guthrie feel!! Love the story, love the vocals, love the guitar playing.......this sounds so authentic GREAT JOB!!! 5 Stars & Likes!! Margie & Art Corey
My Gawd that's the nicest response we've ever received after sending out one of our nasty sounding songs. I guess you could be saying that sarcastically, but still... Thanks heaps!
Dear Nick & Cole, Dudes....I meant every word of what I said!! This tune could be in a film, it's so authentic sounding............GREAT SONG!!! Margie & Art Corey
Wowsers! Scary amazing material, a sound for any scene and a song to set every mood! You all are very gifted and you've finetuned your style! Keep 'em coming! Your friend in song, - Cole Crawford-Hurst

Song #11: This is my final song. When you listen, I think you'll understand why I saved it for last. Imagine the lyrical attitude of NIN combined with the sardonic humor of Randy Newman, then mix in the classic soul of Ray Charles and the Raelettes. As always, with plenty of Spermatochord sauce added. WARNING: Explicit language and deep blue humor Black & Blue http://www.broadjam.com/songs/thespermatochords/black-blue-explicit 1
Finality can be so f$cking abrupt. . .
Straight forward, inticing, and funny; nice work Anthony!
Hey mang, just had me a listen and it was righteous! He'll yea it was soulful! Dug the shit out of it! Well done sir! Your friend in song, - Cole Crawford-Hurst
Thank you Peter, Cyndi and Nick/Cole. Nice to know I can make a few people out there smile, while being "righteous and soulful". Greatly appreciate the support. That song was definitely a blast to record.
Hooie! you boys is gettin slicker than a greased pig with yourn latest trilogy! We hope you will honor usen with a little listen to our full Band Studio blast, Do you know what love is? But the by, does you? - Fever for the boys
Fo' sho! We'll give it a go n let ya know what we make of it.. not that our take matters none, but at least we'll be as honest as Abe saying grace on Easter Sunday. -CCH

Our sincere pleasure. - CCH
Dear Mr. Nick and Marse Cole, Me an Eric knows what yous means bout them Terroists. Eric sat we gots to fight 'em with Taoists. God gonna be blownin the shit out out of 'em sure as shit, but in the meantime, keep yur head low.
Hmmm... well alright, don't melter-swelter in your summertime cellar okie doke... yep, sho nuff? A man's gotta learn to live on his knees and beg with one hand out and the other across his heart so he can keep on doin them locked out / look both ways and run like hell songs. Especially amid the recent rise in rampage slaughtering that has spread through the safest neighborhoods and gated orgies of wealth in our country tis of thee... Where nowadays friendly fire is the new norm on our gun fightin, police brutality, inner city streets... Feels like were all taking on fire or scurrying for cover under a red blood, american moon... all the while locked on the wrong side of a nationalistic air raid room where the wealthy hide with their pretty, white padded walls, red meat and stock piled candy wines... but where most people can't come close to being able to afford Pfizer's latest big-pharma brain seltzer that said to bury these kinda modern-day wartime blues plaguing us in the latest round of red-white n blue corporate bomb droppings raining down on this broken neon country we call 'merica. - CCH
Mr. Cole an Mr. Nick. Me an Eric is blowed by have much yous'ns are getting to sound like usen's. We done throwed up 3 new tunes awhile back, hoping to cause a stir, specially our X-Plicit Stain On Your Pants, but we ain't heard diddly cept from the sweet Hot Mamma Miss Dianne, Big Mac Daddy in Texas, TX, and Nashville Hillbilly Joe, who done live here in FL, not TN. We is up to Atlanta at art shcool, least I is, Eric is mostly assing arounf barking at tail. He done love your Barking At the Hole. He say he wonder what hole that be? I likes you Train song better as I knows what you mean, brother. You ever get up to Atlanta, you'all look us up, here? - Fever
Hey Mang, You better believe we wil look you up. We don't don't sleep in hotels and motels get old and homecooking aint something we shy away from undertaking altogether, so hell to the uh-huh brother.
Gentlemen, great work as usual. Just a word of caution...be careful what holes you choose to bark upon :)
no doubt mang, get them yellow vinegar blisters or dem' herpes burns, ya know?
Big thanks for your generous review of Remember That Song. I have had a blah day it gave me a lift. Thanks Again!
No Problemo mi amigo! I cast my gaze far and wide and I see an enormous ocean of individuals who are all pressing for a blessing, and I too am one. Hang in there and grit your teeth and never let 'em see ya cringe. your friend in song, - Cole Crawford Hurst
I love your stories....raw an unembellished. I started listening and just let the tunes flow.
Hey thanks friend! I am what I am... and we are as we are... Hope you enjoy but dig your enjoyment. - ch
I dunno? Its never bee this top heavy, well not since the fall of ROME... Because, when (actual statistic), 98% of the American people are forced to compete, fight with each other, over what is now only 10% of the wealth. 10%, that's all that remains?? That's it after 2% of our so-called country-men are done feasting??? 10% of the kill to feed 98% of the tribe? That kind of greed is not simply unethical on multiple levels, it's also shameless. See, that's not only immoral, it's criminal. well infrastructures collapse, rot out like teeth. And some men will burn down this world just to rule over the ashes?? Why? your friend, - Crawford Hurst
hey Tony, I've had a tough time getting your show when it's streaming, do you have a link to the web pages that stream live ? thx very much, Earl

Hi, Thank you for the nice review of my song "I Find Comfort in My Blues". One of the first songs I wrote in my bedroom when I was a teenager. I remember it was "booze" instead of "blues" at that point. Yeah. & thanks for the constructive tips too I know its pretty raw. Gotta work on that.
Hey no heavy, it was a rockin track! even put it on my playlist cause it felt me up and kissed neck all sweet in the right kinda way, you know? Really dug it friend! - Crawford
Hey Ms. Bak, My name is Crawford Hurst and i'm sorta musical leper here on broadjam. Needless to say that don't sit right with some, but if it did well then I might have to reconsider my lowdown no good dirty ways. So until then. Anyway I sincerely enjoyed your song 'REMIND ME' and just wanted to tell you KUDOS KIDDO! Your friend in song, - Crawford Hurst
Beautiful new work, beautiful old. my brothers, you have moved my soul. Be loved beneath the open Texas sky. - Nick LovePop
Mr. Nick LovePop Jones, How the hell did you rummage that name friend? I fucking Love it! I am gonna start calling myself Diesel Thunder, starting.................. Now! But No shit, thanks for all the kind words and especially all the LovePops, You're brother in song, -- Crawford
Jesus Pedro! That was some heavy, heavy, raging word thunder! For real man. I just listened to your poetic plead for life, 'Anything' is everything aspoken word poem should aspire to. its bare bone emotion and it doesnt try to hide its eyes. you dont cloak your heart and you dont shade over your art with ego, and in my opinion, that is what art truly is, and also what it lacks these days... Very impressed. Anyhow, im crawford hurst and if you aint already heard, well... im kinda a pain in the asses of alot of these broadjammers just cause. but its only because i dig the integrity, truth, splendor of art, and not the campaigning of one's art, that i am an ass at all. Sorry to hear about your mother. The indifferent are many and sadly the unloved are the result. just the crazy ass way of the world. your friend in song, - Crawford Hurst
I appreciate your kind words brother!
LOVE your new songs, guys. Love's Left Over Lovers done made me cry!
You're nuts. And uhhh, no. No money, success or anything close to it...
you two boys bout the raunchiest fella's i do believe ever laid eyes to. hardcore and heavy and hollow brained dip shit sons a bitches, and yes, i mean your mammy! Your Father, The Cowboy, Daniel P. Purdue
Daddy? Daddy No! Quit Posting your troubled Lies! Youre a no good, Two timing, Town skipping, train hopping, son of a bitch your old damn self and i hope your shovel aint dulled cause your grave's gonna hafta be dug! YOur Son, The Ranch hand, - Noble Hays Purdue
Shot gun Charlie, Says good night to one and all... GOOD NIGHT.
Just came across "Leah and myself" on Broadjam Radio and love the heck out of it. This is some great writing guys. Reminds me of some Robert Earl Keen stuff that I've loved yet all your own.
Wow thanks Mr Rauschl, not sure why its done so well, but 'leah and myself' seems to have hung in there. Or depending on who you ask, it has spread like cancer. either way, really happy to hear somebody enjoyed it, sometimes that's what we all need to hear, just so we can manage to hang in there ourselves, i suppose. your friend in song, -Crawford Hurst
hey Mrs MacAdams, we still friends? If youre ducking me, well... that's kinda ducked up.!
Of course! Didn't really know how to respond to that last post... :)
they sit 'em down and fry 'em to a crispy death down here in the lonestar soveign nation of texas state. And good to hear mrs MacAdams... i was worried i might have to replace you and that wouldve been at least a two hour ordeal. Also its nothing short of a remarkable feat seeing all of your recent and obviously well deserved noteriety. This here recent chart spanning rise to the top only validates what i personally believed to be true. Harmonious Angels can still gracefully fly while singing beautiful praise an ugly world. So congrats! And may never look down! your friend in song (until you make it big), -Crawford Hurst
(while singing beautiful praise in an ugly world.)
You are too kind, and the "top" is subjective. You're already there in my book. :)
Duder!!! Raging steady, bone-stack solid, jivin song! Its gotta He-man sized mega strong chorus DT. Damn my shock but thats one helluva do right by me song! Kudos Donny Boy! your envious friend in song, -Crawford 'the dump truck' Hurst
Lads, Goddamn! You'all made the Folk Top 10! Saints be Praised. I can only make the Folk Religious Top 10. Guess you'all are more popular than God. Must be a Texas thang. - N
Well, Yes, Mr. Fuse, we did indeed make the folk top ten, and yes we are probably as popular as 'the big cheddar of the eternal debtor' in many circles, but we have changed cause of the fame. And we have not become less approachable over night just because we cant go to out in public without being recognized. No sir, not here. Absolutely no alterations of our personalities, or self worth. Nope, none, we are exactly as the 'heavenly dictator of predestination' and /or/if 'Mister boom-town thunderbolt,' our 'interplanetary sole creator,' our heavenly daddy-o designed us... nearly flawless. We are still the most modest mega stars in the sky my friend. So i thank you for your congrats, and please, allow me to thank all those who made this dastardly feat possible... First, we couldn't have done this without the epic lyrical finesse of the one and only Mr. Crawford ' the great white hope' Hurst. His roles many and his part vital... To you sir. Equally as important but only half as handsome, The Fancy Man, the king of musical bling a' ling ling, the most musically talented chap to ever gracefully roam the bar rooms and strip clubs of this dank earth, since Ludwig Von Bachman-Quincy-Beatoveen-Jones II, the pivotal Mr Nick, 'I am Pinnacle' Coleman.... 'Fore without these two heroic men, very little in this unimaginative world would've ever even been a possibility, more or less a manifestation of worldly proportion and/or an evolutionary revolution... Yes, They are The Evolutionary Revolution. So folks, here's to us, we can never fully repay ourselves for this such masterful display of perfection... Thank you, to us, for being such great figures of modern genius, while displaying such modesty and class.... Now may you all either quit reproducing or learn to do it properly. Drive Right and Arrive Safe. And have good times while the getting's good... Good night America and Good morning eastern Europe...(but not you west and southwestern coastal Europe, Not Good morning to you!) Yours Ever Reluctantly, -Crawford Hurst
Couldn't have happened to more deserving "heroic men". Keep on revolutionarily evolving. The alternative isn't very good. "Been around the world and found that only stupid people are breeding" (Mozart von Bachman Turner Overdrive, aka Harvey Danger)...never has there been more accurate words placed on paper or sung in song.
Jeff - crazy lady is cool. I used to be married to one. i feel your pain! nice song , nice vibe, like your playing.
Thanks! I think we've all known one.. I remember one who spoke to me in two different voices and told me she was schitziphrenic and only one of the two personalities actually liked me ... ahh memories.
thats funny- u ever do any standup?
STAND UP? I do 'Stand up' to the establishment and stand up to my boss and stand up to my women all the time! says my inner jerry seinfeld...
so for u standup means being a rebel . Im no rebel . Johnny Yuma , he was a rebel.
Congrarts on going on to the top 20. Now that sadly I've been left in the dust I'm pulling for you. Good Luck
Thanks so much, Jeff. You SHOULD be there!
BTW, how do you pronounce your last name? Is it like russell with a 'KA' in the middle? :)
Congrats, Dianne!!!
Thank you Brian!
It's like "Rah Shull" but I answer to anything close lol. I really dig your duet with Donovan BTW
Thank you very much! So glad you like it!! :)
yessssir!!! whatever happens there wont be no more cheap motel hookers or trucker buffets or not even no more shaving your balls with rusted razor. hell no! not for you! maybe the rest of us but there aint none of that hard living where youre headed... no sir bob! its all class and brass at last for you! its fine dining at golden correls and unwinding with bath salts and franzia wine... its smoking your high dollar camel tobacco and no more god damned parliment menthols you collected outta bus station ashtrays or combined with other mystery tobaccco and hand rolled your own damn self... its one helluva windfall if i do sayso myself! but randy newman once told me while we shared a cincinati hooker, that it often gets lonely on the top so do be mindful of that fact as you ascend to bonafide greatness, mr. bootstraps and bandanas... and dont let nobody kick you in the shit tank over selling out neither. all a buncha green eyed pansies that are heart sick and just bloody pissed they werent the ones who got the chance in the first place cause thats all anyone really wants... just to sell out ya know. so glory be to god and sorrow to satanand let it ride there Benny BoDean! your number 100,100 and 100,101 biggest fans, - Charlie Mega Mullet Jr. of Big Town, Nevada and Mr. Crawford 'go-ready' Hurst
Oh shit Diane youre a woman. Well i'll be damned, aint a word of that applies to you much.. huh. well congrats any old way Mrs. MacAdam.
Why thanks, Crawford. How you doin? You okay??? Do ya need anything? ;)
doin well. i'm as okay as one with my condition can be expected to be... no midnite train to after life yet so... who knows when but someday. and yes, i need a little and then a little bit more, but mostly i just need a foot in the door, i got one in the grave and the other standing on the platform, waiting on that sinner's penny train...
take it dianne! **now here is where your kazoo solo would be
Ohhh, the pressure. I'm much better on the spoons. Is that okay?
Clarksdale Miss - great tune , has John Prine , Guy Clark vibe to it. Well done guys!
Well you know something, Sir Donovan Of Tuck Town Shire, I do hereby offer my full agreement in full... Full heartedly and full from lunch. But Thanks you friend, may your people be rewarded with a bountiful harvest and your winches all bear you many male heirs. i went to clarksdale in search of an old and dying blues, not the steven ray vaughn blues or the chicago muddy rivers / howlin' wolf blues, or the piedmont blues or british invasion blues. i went in search of the delta blues. the robert johnson crossroads devil midnight blind lemon house of Son delta mississippi Freddy DELTA BLUES, as they have long been my favorite style. they are rooted in oppressive tyrannical servitude and laced with purity and raw unnerving huge emotional thunder. these are the blues of a people with steel skin and porcelain hearts and whose wit is sharp as any since time dawned. whose words are so descriptive they feel like gospel truths and acupuncture sessions while sun burned and sinning your way through a corrupt world. these are the blues my mother hid from me and my father secretly fantasized over while making love to mediocrity, the mistress of complacent men, where that limbo reaches widest of all. these are the blues i searched for, and it was in that search i discovered much. one discovery was Clarksdale, not in the lewis and clark sense of the term discovery, more in the zen Buddha with a side of Aristotle, one part self awakening two parts self identifying enlightenment sense of discovery. The Delta Blues, the best thing forged by the pain of many. but thanks.
