Dear Scott: you blew me away with "Second Fall" and other incredibly original and inspiring works. Now I write with heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS for your Top 20 Finish in the 2010 Six-Pack competition. Way to go man! Although we are not "countrymen" in the traditional national heritage sense of the word, we are nonetheless "countrymen of life" sharing a symmetrical "vision" of how to reflect things we see wrong in the world in need of mirror like reflections through song. I am happy, humbled and overjoyed to have been introduced to your incredible songwriting capabilities and look forward to hearing all of your new work. all my very best, your friend H. Jay Carney
you area a true gentleman good sir, i am also very happy to be part of your working circle..very proud to be introduced to it. I stand in awe of your networking approach..its just superb. you are a lyric machine and i love your fearless approach. as far as the 6pack goes..its still got a ways to doesn't it? when is it over?
Hey Scott....today's high 5's and playlists from same as above. still loving second fall or rome, my all time favorite. created a special separate playlist category for it. all my best, jay
I just sent it on
rockin' out to "happy now"
I'm glad you liked it. how is life? Busy, enjoying things you're working on? Cheers and best to you..
new song sound very Klaatu some people think Klaatu was Beatle secret band not true people say Klatuu members unkown also untrue
very good mix :) back vocals perfect, i call you Scott McSmellney
mix master class start session 8 know when live singer know harmony man sing, then lead singer back off microphone 3 inch to allow balance in sound two vocals? all good lead vocal singer know and do this live, specially big stars, celine, faith, mcartney do this also singer doing like live mixing, since sound tech cannot keep this type live control real sound when record, track good level all vocal track then, when start mix down, always, always, always bring lead vocal down -3 db when harmony sing along, and harmony -2 db below lead together, the 2 vocal make a perfect -1 when add 3rd singer, drop 1 and 2 down again by -1 db compress not do this very well. do this with slider on track, THEN compress maybe. that rule #8 :)
very interesting.....very helpful will try. I am putting up more songs... I might as well ... no use them staying in my basement. cheers
cellar no place for songs songs like attic :)
thanks for the reviews!! Thanks for remastering the song you call Secret smile. That was written and recorded in one day so its pretty rough also it used to have a intro but it sounded just like Let it Be!!! You mix is clean and smooth. thank you very much!
nit even close to done smelly not even close please remember check emails often here
song only have this magic since it was done in one day has a spontane to feel and more artist should do this way record, get idea into real world THEN artist can decide later, re-make, re-master maybe magic go lost when artist go far away from write day next day, some feel lost one week, much feel lost two week after, writte starts go lost when technic need more attention no good for pure writer get idea dwon, not only in brain. brain sleep, idea go different next day, little artist startquestion original write, change words change feel, add thing, become editor, not write person. new car saleman make magic this way remember this.
Mr Carney: Love the story of those lyrics very powerful You should write books. I bet you could crank em out! The song where it goes is exactly about what you said. You nailed it I was in new York and 42 street hit me for it's history. I just saw a saw about getting old and death emboddied as a Character. But then I saw a guy on the street who had a happy outlook Even though he was crippled Depressing song I guess Cheers and thanks for bothering to notice!
Well first of all that is extraordinarily nice of you. As I consider the kindness of your support, I must say that I feel it is incumbent upon us to help each other along. The gifts we have do do this thing we do, however great or small in scope portability, is To me, a wondrus thing, and although I am not strictly a religious man. I do have a strong spiritual impulse which resonates with me daily. However all that being said you didn't have to go out of your way to give me such a nice complement and I truly appreciate it. As for my politics showing, I apologize if it comes across a little rude. I am a very strong American supporter. Stronger than some of my American relatives. Consider daddy walks as a gentle nudge towards the American military machine. However as a country that has lived and prospered by its protection. It is difficult to, realistically complain. My sense is merely that our time as the Great Western "thing" is changing. We are Rome in many ways. As a religious man you must see it. The absurd decadence, disintegration of traditional value.... I need not go on Final thing I am going to send you a CD or two, one is a collection of humorous songs. The other one is the new car smell stuff whether they are serious songs, you will have to decide! Any case thank you again for your generous words, I cannot help but think you must be talking about the wrong guy! Look forward to our musical experiments best, your northern friend
no apology needed whatsoever. quite the opposite. nothing rude at all. i dig your politics. one of the best things about democracy is the freedom to be able to speak out, when necessary and appropriate, to keep this big ship within the correct steering lanes. like you, i don't consider myself a religious man, in the traditional sense of that word, but i definitely feel plugged into what I see as a new, very powerful spirituality that recognizes that what humans have tried to label as "God" for Millennia has been naive, at best, and abusive, at worst. psyched to look forward to receiving CD or two :-). best, jayjay
According to your face book is another extremely well written song. Man, i am impressed! I love your chorus: Chorus: According to your Facebook, I'm a loser and a fake According to your myspace, I'm your number one mistake So text me if you want me or even send a poke I guess I'm just a loser and even worse I'm broke You, sir, have a gift for writing!
That's very very nice of you. I just wish I had a gift for making money at it! :) It seems, well it is actually true that it has been an incredibly long journey with very little reward. I gave up a while ago but Broadjam has renewed my interest. As I said I have nothing but respect for your talent and approach Look forward to making some worthwhile music with you Best scott
take a peek at what I just wrote about you on the 7th blog at: http://www.broadjam.com/blog/the-6- pack-blog/the-final-stretch/comment -page-25/#comment-15695
Look you are the king my man! Great variety, great voice. Truly great pop voice. Like classic radio pop voice. Its kind of amazing that you are not big. If I can help let me know. I can do stuff My very best Scott
Scott, I don't want to be presumptuous and think that your message above is addressed to me, because I'm not really sure if it is. But if it is, I'm basically a lyricist, not a singer or performer.....which is why your work appeals to me so much. Your lyric writing is exceptionally deep and metaphhoric and I love it. I'm always looking for folks to collaborate with - especially singing and performing artists, because I have zero talent into those areas. I'd love to collaborate with you at some point, if that appeals to you. all my best, hjay@thecarneycompany.com
Very cool that you swim these waters. Its a neat idea for a music fan to think that openly. What do you do if you are not a writer? cheers
Very nice of ya. Would you mind me asking which song? Where is your stuff!!!! I wanna here...may I demand to hear! best scott
I'm just a fan - no songs myself. I sent the comment after listening to Heaven and in the middle of Too Bad I'm Lyin'. I also enjoyed the retro feel of I Feel the Magic and Vegas Comeback.
Patty if you eve want to use steady bowling partner fro some reason its yours. Scott if you ever need a shitty male singer I is yo guy. scott
Patty, Particularly impressed with "Mind Games". I wish I had the patience to produce songs to the standard you do. Keep at it. Greg
Hey, Greg, thanks.. well, i guess the flip side is the amount of time it takes! Would be nice to go faster. That track has some live cello mixed with some virtual inst. cello. I wrote it as a 'relief' to the two 'Congo' chase / thriller tracks I produced at the same time. I'll tag it as a free download for a few days so you can grab it if you like, take care! - patty
Hi Patty, Sorry it took so long to comment on your comment about my song, but I had just about given up on anyone noticing my music, so I guess I haven't been reading my profile. But thanks for your kind words, even though my production isn't top notch. I do have 17 songs copyrighted and need to copyright about 20 more, maybe soneday I can get some recognition. I really just consider myself as a lyricist, and not the best performer. I can't seem to figure out how to reach bands that don't right their own stuff. Of course I'm already 63 years old, so I guess I better hurry up!! Ha!!! Best regards, Mike Cannon
hey thanks for the d-load...You are a real talent. Went to your sight.... big vision. as for your influences...lovely. I think you are cool..damn it cool! we're at myspace/newcarsmells Consider me a fan Scott
