I just want to thank you Dave for the great job he did re-mixing & mastering my track Angels In My Room. After ages struggling with it on my own and not getting there, your mix is just so much better. The balance between the all instruments & vocals is spot on & everything just sounds so much clearer & in the right place in the mix. As soon as I have more tracks ready I'll get them over to you. And thanks for the positive comments from others who have listened to it too. Julian.

It's not offten that I get so much constructive feedback & it's areal help as I am relatively new (newb?:-) to recording music and Angels was my first finished effort, all done on my computer at home on Cubase. I had a listen to some of your stuff (you have a massive collection!) & some of it is really powerfull, and fantastic production. I hope I can achive something near to that someday. Hi Lee, thanks for your nice review of my song Angels In My Room. I'm glad you liked it and it's always interesting to hear someone else's take on your stuff. I do know the basics of song structures, but I also think that you need to do something different sometimes, otherwise music would be very boring. I took a listen to your music & I really liked Northern Light a lot, it's a great sounding song & you have a very distinctive & strong voice. Is Hype To Fly a piece written for "media"? That's something that I'm having a crack at too. Julian.

It's the first song that I've managed to record entirely on my own & I'm still trying to learn more about the technical side of recording, I've still got a way to go! I had a listen to some of your tracks & I really like the dark & moody feel that you've created on some of them. Very clear & well balanced recordings too, are your instruments played live or are you using plug in's?

Hi Nigel, thanks for your review of my song Angels In My Room, it's good to get some decent feedback, so many people can't be bothered. I get your comment about kicking in a bit earlier in the song but I was going for more of a slow burn with a late build up. I'm just recording at home on a computer & find that it does limit what I can achieve with the instruments & production. Like you, I'm also trying to produce a sound that's acceptable for demo's to pitch to other artists. I've listened to some of your tracks & from what I've listened to so far I really like The Winter. Do you use a studio for your music, the sound is good on the tracks I listened to. For someone "new to the writing game" you have a hell of a catalogue of songs already! I'm going to have a listen to some more of your stuff.
Hi Julian, thanks for your words of encouragement! i ama one band show when it comes to writing - I play bass and synth. All of my stuff is written initially on a Korg Trinity synth (multi-timbral synth meaning that I can essentially write the whole tune on the synth, get everything about right, then record it in one hit into the computer to a programme called Tracktion. It's a great piece of simple software. I use an interface (plug in box) called a Tascam UH-122L. It enables me to sing or play guitar straight into the pc. It's a basic set up but it works quite well. I think I'm doing quite well then I hear some stuff on BJ and think I'm WAY behind! Glad you like The Winter - I just finished it this week - a re-make of one of my tunes called Stronger. I wanted to give it a kind of Take That feel. I like production! Sounds do it for me. Hi Ron, I just wanted to thank you for your generous review of Angels In My Room. I had a listen to some of your music & I particularly liked Rain Overcast and Just Over The Horizon. I'm really interested in writing "media" music for film or TV, so it's good to listen to your stuff and how you approach it. I noticed that Pumping Station Road have also been commenting on your music, they also gave me a really nice review of Angels recently. Broadjam is great for interaction between musicians like that! Hi George, Thanks for your reply to my review of Intervention, sorry it wasn't great but I guess we all have to call it as we hear it and it just didn't do it for me. Anyway I don't give up easily & I went to your page & listened to a few more of your songs, I didn't find one that really grabbed my attention until I hit upon Back On The Wagon... wowie George, that's a really brilliant song, I could hear the late great Johnny Cash doing that! Sometimes you've just got to keep an open mind and keep listening & you find something great. Well done & good luck. Julian.

"you are the one" is quite awesome!...very nice love ballad and nicely done. who is the singer if i might ask? p.s. the UK still RULES for turning the USA onto excellent songs! the "silver beatles" started it all anyway!!
Hi Chaz, thanks for your kind comments about my song You Are The One, At the time it was recorded I was using a demoservice where you send in a rough recording of your song & the studio records it again & supplies a vocalist to sing on it, so I actually don't know who she is!I went to your page & had a listen to a random selection of your songs, and athough I'm not usually a country fan I really liked your tracks Tennessee Dreamin' & Rest My Soul In Oklahoma. I definately agree with you that the Beatles are the best & are so influential, even today! I love them & listen to them all the time. All the best, Julian.
