Ok

I had to write a comment regarding your review of "Counter Help". First off, there is no violin, it's all cellos. Groove issues huh? The groove a little too much for ya might be the issue. And... I play everything. No I'm not a professional drummer. I'm a professional cellist/producer who can write my ass off. I'll check something out. And give you a proper review. Violin?

If you put your songs up for review, you have to be able to hear the honest opinions people might have about them without getting pissed. I reread my comments and I admit I wasn't very constructive and overstated the groove thing so I apologies about that but I also listened to the song again and I stand by my review. Try not to be so defensive if you get a review you don't like; this is a kind community of songwriters and I personally meant you no harm so your comment about what might be "a little too much" for me was lame.

And as you admitted... Your groove comment was lame. So you deserved what I had written. I wasn't pissed, just disappointed in my fellow artists here. Especially when you mistake violin for cello. Cello man... Lots of 'em! I listened to one of your works and while I enjoyed the violin part, I was really turned off by the 80's synth stuff underneath. Maybe that was the point? If not, I would think about redoing that work. Drums sounded fine. I still stand by my comments. No problem with the groove. Good luck out here. Have you had placements? I have but am in need of many more:)

Jeff, Conduit is beautiful and unique. Very different and emotional. Loved it.

Hello Jeff, I liked Conduit! It was hard to get the player to work...then it sounded like the song had 2 starts. The only thing I would suggest is starting "sparser" and then building up. Cellos sound good.

Thanks Kate! It does have a chord with some improv at the beginning and then starts... that might have been the two start thing or problems with the player. Anyway, yeah... I might do a few different versions of the tune and incorporate your advice into one of them... thanks. What should I listen to?

I listened to "Bounce House". It's great! Yeah, the pianist is fantastic and the song has real charm and appeal even following a pretty standard song writing style. It should be in stage and show for sure:)
I would offer this... I think the audio could be improved, especially the piano. While the playing is superb, it somehow fely midi like at times. I wonder what he was actually playing. And, sometimes balance felt of regarding your voice and the accompanying piano part. Sometimes I wanted more voice, but often more piano. Anyway, thanks again... and great work!

Thanks. Glad you liked it. It was so much fun to write and great fun to perform. When I do it live I have the audience do the scream. It's a. ....well....scream!

Shared your comments w/ my producer....let's see what he says. When it comes to technology and mixing, I always refer to him. Not being a techie my self. Naw, I just hang around the bounce house, ha ha.

Hello Jeff and thanks for your review of my piece Mephistopholes Waltz. It's great to get reviews and advice from talented people such as yourself.
I feel you hit the nail right on the head with your comment about the audio...this piece was recorded in the mid-90s with EMU Proteus samples, I hope to get around to updating it with EWQL instruments soon.
Good luck to you and thanks again!

I can get with that. Hey, just out of curiosity, what were you trying to capture with the song?

Author

An emotion. As I do whenever I sit down to write. My feelings as an artist always come first... The market is always a second thought. I find I have more originality that way.

I agree, there is so many songs that are just there, and they all begin to sound the same. Like you, I believe in writing to the emotion, that makes all the difference. Keep up what you are doing.

Jeff,

Thank you for your review of my song Blue Butter Fly. Yes I understand what you mean. I compose simple melodies. This one could have been recorded in a much shorter version perhaps just over 2 minutes. Another inspired composition from me. Other instrumentation could bring it to life I believe for it's intended use in a ballet.

Thanks and good luck with your music

Sincerely,

David

Good morning & thank you for your review of Excited cue. This one is next to receive professional mixing & mastering after I complete my editing. I've been going back & redoing my older songs with my newly acquired engineering skills, limited though they are. I appreciate your feedback. The best to you & your music.

Hi Ben! The scammers are generally pretty obvious. I mean, I have been offered exclusive contracts that when read carefully are completely unfair. No lawyer needed, just some slow reading and good common sense. It the end it is a personal decision composed of many factors including, how much you think your work is worth and how badly you need money. The later often times getting in the way of good judgement! Thanks though... worthwhile info none the less. On another note... What do you think of TAXI?

Best,
Jeff

I like Taxi and I am a member, but Taxi has few licensing opportunities for classical composers, it is mostly jazz and rock, so it seems.
