I was hesitant to re-new my membership on broadjam but I have decided to give it another year to see if things will improve in 2013 with this site. I saw a few negitive blogs about broadjam on the net and it made me question if this is the right site for my music. I do believe that there are opportunities here to get my music, or anyone else's music licensed that I would have no way to find out about. But I sense that perhaps some of these opportunites may also be boguss. For example; Seeing opportunities for Holiday music this late in the holiday season seems a little strange to me. It would seem to me that anyone needing holiday music for an ad or TV show, movie would have needed this months ago. Never the less I have signed up for another year in the hope that the right opportuity will be presented and I and others will get there music placed. How exciting will that be !!! Good luck to all the members here at broadjam I wish you all the best. And thank you to the staff at broadjam for your hard work I am sure there is a lot that goes into what you are tring to do for us independent music artist. for that I am thankful with-out you my music has not chance what's so ever. I think you made the right choice David. While it does seem sort of crazy to pay anyone in the hopes of having your music used for the unknown that is pretty much the only hope. I love everything about Broadjam - but I no longer even attempt to market my music for financial gain anymore. With what I feel is the destruction of real music by the labels and their laboratory created artists - there is little need or want for beautiful music any more. I'll always keep writing - but as far as making it commercially - I'd rather just give it away free myself.
Jeff, Your point of view is well noted, Perhaps it is that American Dream thing that I grow-up with thinking that I can see my dreams come true. This one being seeing my music provide a strong source of income for me in my later years and loving it every time I receive a royalty check or hear my music in use in an AD, TV show, Movie etc. Good luck with your music I will check it out. Broadjam really needs to improve on their opp descriptions. I see a lot of winners that are around 33% of peer, which obviously proves those submitting have no real idea on what the provider really wants. A great way for Broadjam to make money, but not so great for those who submit. Just my thoughts.
Jeff I'm new here and I'm wondering what do you mean by 33% of peer???Is there something I need to look at before I submit a tune ???
Peer means what others who submitted songs think of your entry. The higher the peer rating, the more folks thought your song was suited for that listing. Whats interesting is that I see a lot of songs with low peer ratings winning - which is an indicator that Broadjam is not doing a very good job at telling us what the provider really wants. Thats great for Broadjam because it brings in a lot of money for them, but bad for songwriters trying to get somewhere.
Starting to seriously question many of these Broadjam opps. Enough said.
