Alfredo(Alfie) started playing the guitar at the age of 6 where he lived in "Motown" Detroit, Mi. with his family. His father(Jose Riojas) was a songwriter/player with a song on the Billboard Charts in Europe at the time, and his grandmother played cello for the D.S.O.(Detroit Symphony Orchestra) in her youth. Alfredo learned from his father the appreciation for song writing as well as fundamentals of guitar, while learning from his older brothers and sister(who all played instruments as well) the modern music of the times. His mother instilled through example the appreciation and love for classical music. Alfredo has many musical influences from Bach to Bill Monroe, Bob Dylan to Bob Marley. As for electric guitar influences, they include but are not limited to The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, Allen Holdsworth, Frank Gambale and Mattias IA Eklundh to name a few. That coupled with the belief that something can be learned from every player you see, gives Alfredo a truly refreshing and unique twist to the face of acoustic rock music.
As a kid, Alfie found himself gravitating toward guitar rock, learning Iron Man at the age of 6 by ear. Music programs through middle and high school helped to broaden his horizons as he excelled to first chair in stage band wind instruments. Wind instruments were fun but didn't have the satisfaction of the guitar so they were put down for his first love, the guitar. Acoustic song writing was introduced to Alfie through the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, C.S.N. and others. While developing naturally as a player at a young age, Alfie's focus became devided. Devided between having fun exploring the many differant styles and physical techniques in which to express himself and the ever elusive quest to write that one great song. Of course many side disciplines help to round a player as well as a man. Balance in life coupled with remaining centered and focused in ones identity are key in Alfie's philosophy. Hopelessly optimistic, goal orientated and an unquenchable thirst for truth, knowledge and information are dominant factors in Alfie's life. The Three F's have proven to be Alfie's foundation on which to build, these F's are: Friends, Family and Faith. Alfie hopes that with the release of "Alfie's Roadhouse" a number of objectives will be achieved, while some objectives are for a professional and business purpose there is a personal agenda here. Alfie hopes that all of the joy, love and happiness put into the recording and production of Alfie's Roadhouse will be conveyed to and experienced by all who hear. Not only once but every time.
