Cheddar Revolution is a compilation CD of homegrown protest songs inspired by the Wisconsin Uprising. Thanks to generous grants and donations, over 1,500 copies of the CD were made available for free to the public. A more comprehensive, web-based collection with songs for free download is available at http://www.wisconsinprotestsongs.com. Copies of the CD were sent throughout Wisconsin to college, high school and public libraries; commercial, non-commercial, student and Internet radio stations; media outlets and Madison area venues and jukeboxes. Running the gamut from folk to soul, from rock to punk and metal, Cheddar Revolution features mostly Wisconsin musicians. However, both coasts are represented as well, along with some extra special guests, such as Wayne Kramer [MC5 and Jon Langford [Mekons, Waco Bros.] This project was produced as a volunteer collaboration between Fred Schepartz, who maintains the Facebook group Capitol Protest Songs, and WORT Music Director Sybil Augustine. The CD and its creators garnered rave reviews and interviews as well as much airplay locally on WORT, WTDY, WMMM, WPR and the Mic, and nationally on Democracy Now!, the Thom Hartmann Show and Michael Moore's website. The Songs of Uprising CD release party held May 6, 2012 at High Noon Saloon featured performances by 14 of the 19 acts on the CD. Take part in the ongoing Cheddar Revolution, and let these Songs of Uprising be your inspiration! Thanks to all who made this music happen - please listen and share it widely. In solidarity, Sybil & Fred
