We Make 'Em Say Ooh

About Mama Digdown's Brass Band: In their 15 years together, Mama Digdown's has traveled the world spreading the gospel of New Orleans brass band music. Bandleaders Erik Jacobson and Christopher "Roc" Ohly met while studying music at UW-Madison and proceeded to forge a new brass band culture in the heart of the Midwest. Many brass bands of New Orleans count Mama Digdown's original songs among their own repertoire, and it is not unusual to see Mama Digdown's musicians playing at Second Line parades and clubs with the likes of the Hot 8, Stooges and Treme Brass Bands. The band has shared bills with such musical legends as The Neville Brothers, Dr. John, The Dirty Dozen and Buddy Guy. Mama Digdown's may have brought Big Easy Brass to the Midwest, but its New Orleans counterparts consider the band one of their own. We Make 'Em Say Ooh is Mama Digdown's first release since 2006 and lets loose with mostly original tracks that epitomize the genre--loud riffing horns, rhythmic swagger and back-and-forth chants. "Mojito," in particular, so instantly ignites the spirit that other brass bands in New Orleans--and even Great Britain--are already performing it.
