Black Night Fallin' - Cah Box Kings

*The Cash Box Kings continue to dedicate themselves to carrying on the spirit of the 1940's and 50's post-war Chicago blues sound as well as the delta blues music of the 20’s and 30’s. The band features Kenny "Beedy Eyes" Smith (son of the legendary Willie "Big Eyes" Smith) on drums and vocals. We pay homage to a lot of Chess and Sun Records luminaries like Little Walter, Muddy Waters, and Jimmy Rogers along with lesser-known guys like Dr. Isaiah Ross, Robert Nighthawk, Eddie Taylor and Luther Huff. They also delve into the Mississippi Delta sounds of blues men like Charley Patton, Son House, Fred McDowell and R.L. Burnside. The Kings round off their musical offerings with a healthy dose of original music which is heavily influenced by the blues men mentioned above. *The CD was produced by blues guitar ace Billy Flynn. Billy also plays guitar, mandolin, lap steel, percussion and harmonica on the disc. Billy has toured and recorded extensively with blues greats like Otis Rush, Jimmy Dawkins, Robert Lockwood Jr., Kim Wilson, Pinetop Perkins, and the Legendary Blues Band. *The CD was recorded live on June 23, 2004 by Jerry Soto at Soto Sound Studios in Chicago. Jerry Soto has recorded and engineered albums by Buddy Guy, Carey Bell, Louisiana Red, and Eddie Clearwater. *The CD consists of 14 new, original songs written by band members Joe Nosek and Travis Koopman as well as one written by producer and honorary ‘Cash Box King’ Billy Flynn.
