“Exceptionally original...genuine inspiration“ (V Menshikov, Progressor.net) both describe the sounds of 23 Current. These Pittsburgh area recording artists play a style of rock music that layers multiple guitars with other “highly textured sounds” (D McAvinchey, Guitar 9 Records) in progressive compositions. They have been inspired by everything from John Lennon to Weird Al and blended it into a style of their own.
These original songs are written and arranged by the founder of 23 Current, Shawn Burnette. Shawn’s musical influences include Tony Iommi, Allan Holdsworth, and Philip Glass. Nearly all of the songs are written in inventive tunings contributing to their distinctive sound. Shawn also performs all instrument and male vocal parts. Andy Reamer contributes performances on drums and additional percussion. Andy is an active jazz, orchestral, and studio drummer.
