Wolfgang Bio

2007 has been a productive year for Wolfgang Rehmert. Headlining the Pure Imagination Festival in Springfield, Oregon, Wolfgang introduced his own project, the Rizomatic Orchestra.

Though improvisational and experimental in nature, the Orchestra is far from inaccessible. Danceable and imaginative, the Rizomatic Orchestra develops strong grooves and rhythms, themes and spontaneous harmonies to the delight of its audience, feeding off of the crowd's reaction and mood to create pulsating, breathing soundscapes.

Open to many musical genres, Wolfgang has also shared the stage with acts like acoustic singer/songwriters Dan Blackerby and Stevie Barsotti as well as with Las Vegas' blues-legends the Moanin' Blacksnakes, most recently appearing at Portland's Hempstalk festival, playing lead guitar for Reggae-act I-Chele and the Circle of Light to an audience of an estimated thousand people.

Eager to experiment and push the envelope just a little further, Wolfgang utilizes pitch shifters and loops, unusual fretwork and his own brand of hybrid picking to move the music as well as the audience.

Cutting his teeth on blues classics in the subways of his native Frankfurt and the blues-clubs of Amsterdam, Wolfgang paid his dues playing blues standards and various types of rock, drawing from influences as seemingly disparate as Buddy Guy and jambands from Phish to the Dead, , versatility and improvisation are Wolfgang's strong suits.

Today he is emerging as a strong voice in his own right, an energetic performer and writer of improvisational rock and blues for the 21st century.
