I am Austen Brauker. I work as a Peacemaker for the LRBOI Tribal Court in Manistee, Michigan.
We received a grant in 2009 from the Department of Justice (OJJDP-TYP) to operate a cultural/wilderness skills immersion camp for youth ages 11-17, male and female, Tribal Members, Descendants, All tribes, and even non-Indians with special circumstances (Such as mixed homes, adoptions, step parents etc.) are all welcome to attend at no cost.
This program is completely FREE!
Please forward this information to people within your tribe or media contacts who may be able to help promote this great program.
INDIAN VILLAGE CAMP occurs four times a year, four days each time. Youth sleep in wigwams and cook their own food over fires in longhouses. Talking Circle is the primary method of communication.
