Unsung Hero, the hot new acoustic rock band from Wausau, Wisconsin, was formed in late 2004 by two young and promising musicians, Patrick Hertz and Brad Stubbe. Unsung Hero’s acoustic rock style is music that anyone can appreciate: teens to adults. Fans of artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Third Eye Blind, OAR, and even Incubus will enjoy the sounds of Unsung Hero. Along with their youthfulness comes their professional attitude which makes them not your average garage band.
Unsung Hero started out as a two piece acoustic project but has evolved into a rocking four piece group when drummer, Matt Rhyner and bassist, Phil Branigan were added into the band in 2006. Now with Hertz singing, Stubbe on guitar and the new found beats and tight vocal harmonies brought by Rhyner and Branigan, they have evolved Unsung Hero’s music into an enjoyable and rocking group. Their catchy and thought provoking lyrics along with their instrumental precision have bought them a lot of attention. The band has been spending most of their time playing at venues like Wausau’s historic downtown 400 Block, Antigo’s annual Hogan Field Jam, Wisconsin Valley Fair Grounds, Wausau’s Acoustic Night, The Mission Coffee House and at the Launchpad Wisconsin Competition. For their performance at the Launchpad Competition, Unsung Hero was honored in the summer of 2006 when they were invited to play at the governor’s mansion in Madison and for the Superintendent of Wisconsin schools in downtown Madison
Since their beginning, Unsung Hero has been writing original music and today has successfully recorded a four song demo in the studio at Madison Media Institute. Along with their demo they have many other originals. The guys are continually writing new originals and hope to make another trip to Madison to record their new materials sometime in the near future. They are also hoping to get a tour set up for the summer of 2007. Unsung Hero’s youth, along with their catchy and rocking sound, proves that they are bound to have a promising future.
