Very nice treatment, appropriate attitude, believable sincerity. It's hard to write and record a "troop related" song without having a saccharine overtone somewhere in the presentation. This song, a one-to-one message from a wife to a serving soldier miles away, has a feeling of truth to it, and doesn't fall back on an emotional "trick" in lyric or production, to make its point. I really applaud the slight timing syncopation musically in the verses, which keeps the melody from becoming linear and box-like. Thank you for using a singer who enunciates the lyric without making it sound forced in any way. Thank you for writing in clear, consistently tight rhymes (the essence of good lyric writing). I truly love the picture/thought of "Deep calls unto deep," although, frankly, some reviewers may not appreciate the "unto," it worked for me. A well-written and well-demoed song. Good job!
