In another life, Patrick Rask might have been the court composer, creating heretical licks on the harpsichord. His wig would have been askew.

But today, Patrick Rask combines impish rhythms and toppling, penetrating melodies in his songs. Characterized succinctly as “Modern Rock,” the songs of Patrick Rask nevertheless defy the limits of genre. “After all,” says Patrick, “versatility is lost on the modern man.” Citing influences as far afield as Van Morrison, Duncan Sheik, The Dave Matthews Band, Sinatra, The Beatles, Black Sabbath and of course, Stevie Wonder, Patrick Rask demonstrates an enviable talent for composing emotive songs in a variety of styles. These are songs the listener will feel he has known always, from the depths of his experience.

Patrick Rask grew up in a family into which music was woven indelibly. Everyone in Patrick’s family played some type of instrument. Church music, recitals, Sammy Davis Jr. and Rock and Roll were staples of Patrick’s youth. For Patrick, songwriting was inescapable. In his earliest years, instrumentation and the natural world blended together – sea spray sang, stars pulsed in time, the rain did scat.

From these early influences, Patrick has evolved professional songwriting aspirations. Patrick has played in many bands, most notable of which was the RaskBand, whose work culminated in the CD, “The Pat in the Hat”.
