The Box Social is a trash pop band from Madison, WI owing a heavy debt to late-'70s punk and power pop, with dose of early-'90s grunge and indie.

Bio

The Box Social is a Madison, WI.-based rock band that stands out as one of the Midwest's most diligent underground groups. With their blend of dirty rock, and pop sensibility, they are often compared to Paul Westerberg, Phantom Planet, and the edgier side of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Now juniors in college, The Box Social was founded by friends Nick Junkunc and Brian Peoplis, along with guitarist Nick Woods and bassist Dave Griesbach. Rapidly leaving their Wisconsin contemporaries behind, the band set out on an uncommon course, quickly rising to regional and national stages.

2007 has marked the release of The Box Social’s debut LP, Get Going, which is already demanding a second pressing after a 10-week summer tour. The album was recorded at The Chicago Recording Company with producer/engineer Dave Rieley, and mastered by Trevor Sadler at Mastermind Productions. Packing the same tightness and pummeling melody of the group’s 2005 EP, Blown To Bits (No Karma Recordings), the new album showcases the maturity and sincerity of a DIY band coming into their own. Distributed through Nail, Get Going has already begun to buzz among music fans across the country.

The Box Social has self-booked roughly 300 shows nationally, including multiple dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and other performances with The Redwalls, The Hush Sound, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, and Rainer Maria. Shelling out youthful, energetic rock 'n roll the likes of which are scarcely played, the group will perform throughout the Midwest this spring, and will tour extensively throughout 2008
