The Boulanger is a rock act in the tradition of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, or Led Zeppelin. When I asked him to describe the group, singer Brandon Heise says, "We're a rock band. We're all musicians and human beings. I guess our sound comes from our individual personalities, just like your writing comes from yours. Get to know us as people and you will hear that in our music. Get to know our music and you'll know us as people."

In an era of pop-"punk" bands with cookie cutter sounds, names and voices, The Boulanger is an outsider. Vocalist Brandon Heise, "Musically, what we aim to devlop is a sound as a group. A sound that's recognizable like a fingerprint. Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles etc. all had this sort of musical DNA signature that no matter what song you apply it to, it's still them and it's uniquely them. That's what we're after. I have no use for paint-by-numbers on canvas or on tape."
