Vacant Speed is a socially conscious rock band with cutting edge influences ranging from U2 to Radiohead. The lead singer Steve Landa started years before Vacant Speed was completed but the songs he wrote from an early age would carry through to the self titled album. Steve Landa began singing at the age of 8 and later began composing songs entirely from his own poems at the age of 10. He later learned the drums, guitar and bass and played for different bands in highscool. He recorded his first demo at age 16 under the wing of Greg Schwabe now a head tour engineer for KC and The Sunshine Band, where he learned studio basics and production basics. He played at venues across the state and entered in an array of battle of the bands and showcases.
