Growing up in New York City daughter of a Baptist minister was the fertile breeding ground for this soul singer. Gospel songs carried out by choirs, earth trembling vocalists and Hammond organs and 70’s funk musicians playing in the church band were the culture in this Petri dish. Resisting fundamentalism was the purifying path to Soul Sista Shakti finding her own spiritual and musical truths. Then being inspired by great songwriters such as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Todd Rungren brought it all together. The Lord surely does work in mysterious ways! SSS is recently gaining much attention for her sensual and deep vibe. You can also hear original chilled out house co-written by SSS here on Broadband with LFB.
