Story Behind The Song
The moment came to John one linedance night. Trained as a songwriter, he captured it and downloaded it into his old acoustic guitar. He took it to Bill and they worked it up, tried to take out the rough edges, then visited a studio for full production. It's the third song on our Grey Velvet Skies CD. It's a song that people always like. Played at a local linedance, it just fitted in with everything else going on.
Song Description
We wanted a song people could dance to that told a story with a positive, upbeat ending. There's a worthwhile instrumental and a keychange to keep the song fresh throughout. John does his own backing singing here and there. Bill plays rhythm guitar and John plays some of the fills.

Lyrics
I could wait a lifetime, for the moment to be right.
To tell you how I'm feeling, I could wait for all my life.
I haven't got a lifetime, I only have tonight.
To tell you why I love you.
I just hope the words can come out right.
There'll be no ideal moment, for me to make a move on you.
You give no indication and I won't know what best to do.
I haven't got a lifetime, I only have tonight.
To tell you why I love you.
I just hope the words can come out right.
I have to do the things to raise your heartbeat.
I have to say the words that reach your mind.
We're all living for the future.
But soon the moment will be mine.
Friends tell me not to hurry, they say I'm wasting all my time.
They tell me to forget you and find another down the line.
I haven't got a lifetime, I only have tonight.
To tell you why I love you.
I just hope the words can come out right
.... instrumental ...
If I pick the right time and the moment feels alright.
You'll understand my feelings and you want to share my life.
Then I'll have a lifetime, to tell you every night.
How many ways I love you.
I just hope the words can come out right /
/ I haven't got a lifetime, I only have tonight.
To tell you why I love you.
I just hope the words can come out right.
