Best of Times
1. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times too.
We had it all worked out; we didn't know what to do.
There was the future bright and there were clouds hanging in our view.
2. We spoke of faith and love; they spoke of might and power.
It was a fatal choice; it was our shining hour.
There didn't seem to be any other point of view.
So what were we supposed to do.
3. We set our restless hearts to seek our restless fate.
But all our simple plans, the world did complicate.
And left us questioning, the answers that we thought we knew.
Now we have found our stride, now we are lost within.
The path we've chosen now, is ours through thick and thin.
But as that path grows long, we're haunted as the costs come due.
But, what were we supposed to do?
Bridge:
They said we'd set our sights on high
Strong of spirit, the will to try
To be a city shining from the hill so bright.
But we struggled with our need to know
Why our choices confused us so, and
We looked at each other troubled that we'd lost the clue
As to what we were supposed to do.
Repeat verse 1.
