Headlights on the Highway

Story Behind The Song

It had been a long road trip and Horst was over from German. He had a lead riff and general idea for the rythm; Walker wrote the lyrics one morning and arranged it; we took it to Gus for a tempo. It was recorded a couple of days later.

Lyrics

Summers come and gone now
Autumn days are here
My mind has settled
And everything is clear
Lovers and liars
They'll try to bring you down
Usin words like a potion
Just to slip away your crown

I'm watching the sunrise
I feel you in the air
The night loses power
But the dawn, it just don't care

Headlights on the Highway
I'm coming home to you
I love you all the more
I'm anticipating you

Grasping new meaning
I'm playing with time
Breaking down the truths
Following your signs
I want you in my arms
Covered with your hair
Moaning lost direction
O' but that highway, it's still there

Headlights on the Highway
I'm coming home to you
I love you all the more
I'm anticipating you

Light breaks the darkness
Life entagles the dream
My thoughts, they shoot ahead
Anticipation makes me scream

Headlights on the Highway
I'm heading straight for you
Screaming through the towns
Baby, I'm anticipating you

Headlights on the Highway
I'm coming home to you
I love you all the more
I'm anticipating you
