I tried to write a 50's era type song with a modern feel to it

Shelly doesn't dance here anymore
Since Johnny walked out the door
They used to tear down the house
When the lights came shining down

Now the crowd could never wait
It was Johnny and Shelly's fate
Thought the people of the Wayside Inn
No one thought that it would ever end

Now those days are far behind
And Johnny's on 9 to 5
You can hardly see him smile
They say he's lost all his style

As Shelly sits at home alone
With no direction to call her own
She's wondering late at night
If she'll get back under the lights

Time moves on
As tears subside
Empty hearts
And sweet good-byes

One day he called her up on the phone
And asked her for a dance
A tango and a waltz
At the Wayside Inn that night

Shelly really wasn't quite sure
Though she wanted it one time more
They met at the gate
One more dance for old times sake
