Peterbilt Man

Story Behind The Song

This song was inspired by a long haul truck driver. He loved driving the big eighteen wheelers and the freedom of being on the road with no day-to-day family responsibility. The truck provided an instrument of power and a get out of jail free pass from home.

Song Description

Lyrics

Peterbilt Man
I. Eighteen wheeler, thunder down th' highway.
Got a deadline. Get outta my way.
Dim yo' bright lights. Don't like th' screechin' sounds.
Don't mind a distraction, as long as it's southbound.
Best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
II. I'm two days back home to Little Rock.
Deer in th' headlights. I'm blessed with good luck.
Find a rest stop. Lot lizards attack.
I got satisfaction, on th' flat of my back!
(Chorus)
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
Best time for th' Peterbilt man! Ooo...
III. Starvin' Marvin. Nighttime breaks into day.
Waffle House sign. Droolin' for pancakes.
Sippin' coffee. Waitress brings hash browns.
Smothered and covered. Studs back in town!
(Chorus)
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
IV. I ain't sleepy. Chicken Coop, in a bit.
Fix my log book. Weigh Station Bullshit!
Rubber Ducky, I miss you so much!
I'll be home tomorrow. And then we'll touch.
(Chorus)
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
Best time, best time, best time for th' Peterbilt man!
Best time for th' Peterbilt man!
(Tag)
Rubber Ducky... ooo, I miss you so much... ahhh.
Just one more day and then we'll touch.
Best time, best time, best time for th'Peterbilt man!
Best time, best time, best time for th'Peterbilt man!
