The Call of the Wild

Story Behind The Song

I used to live in a big city. However, I was born and raised in the country. I missed green fields, pastures, and rolling hills so much that I felt like I was somewhat trapped by concrete and skyscrapers. The song gave me a mental escape until I could actually take some time off and reconnect with nature.

Song Description

The person in this song has been working in the city, and longs to escape to the great outdoors. The "call of the wild" is tugging at the person in the song, calling them out of the city into the rolling hills with grass waving in the wind. The sounds of nature will "sing a sweet song" to the soul as it reconnects with nature in the great outdoors.

Lyrics

The Call of the Wild

1. I'm starting to feel trapped in the city. . .
Steel walls, concrete fields.
Feel an urge to head out for a day or two.
It's an aching inside that needs relief.

(Chorus)
It's the call of the wild,
Gotta go where the gras is wavin' in the wind,
Call of the wild.
I'll be gone for a while,
Gotta find peace and wonder again,
Watch the sun go down from a mountainside,
See an eagle floating in the sky,
Feel my worries go drifting away. . .
From the beauty I find
Out here in the wild.

2. Well I just can't get enough satisfaction from the neon.
Frills and thrills are abundant here,
But they just don't last.
(Leave me longin' for more)
Pretty faces, social graces,
Can be so insincere.
I've got to get away from here
Before I die.
(Repeat chorus and fade.)
