Story Behind The Song
I was walking across 2nd Ave in Nashville and thought of the chorus immediately. I was so happy that I kept singing it over and over until I got home. I knew that this was one song that would kick the butt of most of the other sad love songs I'd written. It just felt right and came together quickly. I wasn't the victim in this song, finally.

Lyrics
Glad to know this life of mine is changing
This kind of thing used to tear me apart
I?ve come to see ?goodbye?s? for some are easy
You can take my things but you won?t ever take my heart
I?m not out here looking for a shoulder
Or someone to hold on to for a while
Just to prove I never felt anything for you because I did
But now it?s gone and you know why
Chorus:
And I don?t care much for the memories you?ve left me
But my skies are bluer now that you are gone
I won?t waste my breath hoping somehow you?ll regret
The words you left along the way to moving on
For a while my heart was stuck on empty
And I thought I heard it turn for the last time
Needing you and wanting you are two very different things
Once I looked back to pack it up and say goodbye
I heard you went back home to your mama
Believing that you had me all the while
Two years have gone by and I know that you still cry
Like a baby when you?re all alone at night
