Tomorrow

Story Behind The Song

The sun has the starring role in this tune, not only is it the focal point of the chorus the lyric 'The Sun Will Rise' is also the name of the album. When performing this song, I think of the natural beauty of our world, our responsibility to take care of ourselves and others, the power we have to do this and how fortunate we are to be here. Tomorrow is a new day for everyone.

Song Description

VERSE 1 Verse one is all about a disagreement. Two different people and two different viewpoints are represented by the opposites of 'Black and White'. The intensity of the situation is clear with the lyric 'Red is all I see when you're this close to me', suggesting that there is a considerable amount of emotional investment in this predicament. The verse is concluded with an understanding and a respect, accompanied by a desire for better things to come as the two subjects put their differences aside. VERSE 2 The second verse refers to a starry eyed traveler trying to put everything into perspective. The philosophical nomad has been to many places all over the world and still wonders with amazement at our incredible planet, it's beauty, it's fauna, it's creatures, the possibilities and our purpose as it's inhabitants? As we live on such a fragile and delicate planet, he feels that we should nurture and tend to it, as it provides so unassumingly and so willingly for us. 'Silver birds' - refers to airplanes in the sky and the 'progression' of human kind. The traveler wonders whether or not this is truly progress? But hopes all the same for better days to come. VERSE 3 The third verse ends the conflict from the first verse, 'Tomorrow brings a brand new day and I will re-invent the way I look at you'. It is accepting and understanding and moves on with a sense of unity and companionship. The rest of the verse details a universal understanding for one another, overcoming problems in our lives and around the world together. 'And if the world spins round I know that they'll be on our side, we will skate on frozen rivers to escape the hidden tides'. This is basically saying that as we move forward in time, humanity will face many challenges and if we face those challenges together then maybe the future will be bright.

Lyrics

I'll try not to say my mind
It's better left inside but this is hard to bare
Black and White we seem to be
But Red is all I see when you're this close to me
Tell me what you're saying, we have given too much time
And have come too far together to let all this pass us by

But as the night falls, I know days will be better

I close my eyes
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will not matter
Always
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will be better
Always... Tomorrow

I have gazed up to the sky
And followed silver birds that fly above my head
I've peeked around the corners and
Discovered stories some that still are left unsaid
I've tasted many colours in the rainbow of this world
As I try and plot the progress of our changing universe

But as the night falls, I know days will be brighter

I close my eyes
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will not matter
Always
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will be better
Always... Tomorrow

Tommorow brings a brand new day
And I will re-invent the way I look at you
And if the world flips round I know that you'll be on my side
We will slide on frozen rivers to escape the hidden tides

But as the night falls, I know days can be brighter

I close my eyes
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will not matter
Always
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will be better
Always... Tomorrow

So look up, don't look down
Raise your head, turn around
See the faces you know
They're all looking for you
Think you can
Make a change
Well you can
And you will

You will

So look up, don't look down
Look at me, see the sounds
And the places you go
They're all waiting for you
Yes, you have sung
And the people have come
Just for you, for you

(Repeat first half of middle 8)

(I close my eyes
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will not matter
Always
And I know
That the sun will rise and it will be better
Always... Tomorrow

(Words to end on last hanging chord)
