Story Behind The Song
A great lyric of Deb Rempel's that I had seen on Christian Songwriting.org. Having collaborated with her in the past, I asked if I could put it to music. Sadly, she had already assigned it to someone. Several months later the other person opted out, so she asked me if I was still interested. I was extatic to have a crack at this one.

Lyrics
Finally before me a valley of dreams
A world of blessings God prepared for me
I rushed to enter and shouted praise to Him
I did not notice the serpent had crept in
I watched in horror as Satan's wicked hand
Crushed the beauty, ground it into sand
I asked my Father, had evil won at last
I heard creation ring
As God laughed
Rising from the desert at the Lord's command
Like resurrection morning, rivers in the sand
Flowing out of nothing, a dead and hopeless land
Rising from a desert grave
Were rivers in the sand
I began to see the beauty of God's plan
How He had chosen to withdraw His hand
And even though, the snake had had it's way
I saw God's triumphant power that day
I knelt beside the water
And drank deep of God's grace
And there in the wasteland
My voice rose up in praise
Rising from the desert at the Lord's command
Like resurrection morning, rivers in the sand
Flowing out of nothing, a dead and hopeless land
Rising from a desert grave
Were rivers in the sand
rivers in the sand
rivers in the sand
rivers in the sand
