Story Behind The Song
I was looking for fresh songs for our Sunday School Christmas program and became frustrated, so I wrote a few of my own. The others are fun and sing-songy. We closed the program with "This Little Child." The recording doesn't do it justice -- it needs a powerful production and an emotional singer. Each line has hand motions (most are obvious once you hear the song.) However, it's not just a kids song. By bringing the crucifixion into the last verse, it make it quite emotional for adults.
Song Description
It begins with his birth and ends at the cross.

Lyrics
This Little Child. (A Christmas Song)
This little child, will grow to be a man
This little voice, will tell of God?s great plan
These little ears, will hear all those in need
These little hands, will work, will heal, will feed
2. This little mind, will teach the world to pray
This little heart, still cares for us today
This little soul, cries out for you and me
This little child, He knows His destiny
CHORUS:
This little child, on earth to do big things
This little child, of whom the angels sing
He?s just a babe, so meek, so mild
He is our savior, this little child
3. These little eyes, will see His friends all flee
These little feet, will march to Calvary
This little head, will wear a crown of thorns
This little child, sent here on Christmas morn.
This little child, that?s why He was born.
(Chorus)
