Snow Upon The Ground

Story Behind The Song

On Christmas holidays one year I was a bit worried because Christmas day was fast approaching and we hadn't had a snowfall yet, which is pretty rare in Winnipeg. The line "there's no snow upon the ground" struck me and the song was born.

Song Description

This song expresses the feeling I get around Christmas time that my love for friends and family is of paramount importance - a sentiment that I can tend to take for granted during other parts of the year.

Lyrics

There?s no snow upon the ground
December 24th and I am just a little down
I can?t remember all the things I?ve done
Is it my fault there?s no

Snow upon the ground
The winter should?ve swallowed up the city streets by now
The white sheet always puts my heart at peace
?Cause that?s the time of year I take the time to savour all the comforts of my family

I know what you want - and I want to make you happy

There?s no snow upon the ground
Guess I complained about the cold too much last year
I know I took it all for granted
You never need it once you have it
At worst I guess we can converse and intersperse - try not to talk about the weather

It?s alright, we?ll be fine
maybe we can make snow out of paper
It?s alright, we?ll be just fine
maybe we?ll build angels out of sand
