Exit Man

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this at a time when I began to be frustrated by people that believe they are holier or better than other peole because they go to church and are in the socially acceptable circles but in the end are not really good people.

Song Description

A straight forward garage rock song, similiar to the Strokes. It is about the paranoia from a heavily religous background that someone or something is watching you and knows everything you do and in the end you will be judged. The chorus examines the two-faced people who attned church and outwardly appear to be good people but inside they have a lot of hatred and evil in them.

Lyrics

verse
Exit man can you see what's on my mind?
Exit man wants to give you perfect time
Exit man said hey boy you oughta know
When it's your time boy, you know you're gonna go

chorus
Hey, I wanna see myself singing
Hallelujah hello how the hell are you man?
Hey, we're gonna run inside and get ourselves a little cup of lemonade
Hey, you're gonna run into those times it feels like it's been a dead end day
Hey, I'm gonna be myself even if it isn't working my way

verse
Exit man could be sitting on your shelf
Sipping coffee of swimming in your wealth
Better prepare boy, it's gonna go today
Exit man plays a part in every day

chorus
Hey, I wanna see myself singing
Hallelujah hello how the hell are you man?
Hey, we're gonna run inside and get ourselves a little cup of lemonade
Hey, you're gonna run into those times it feels like it's been a dead end day
Hey, I'm gonna be myself even if it isn't working my way

bridge
Hey na na na, they're talking about you and
Hey na na na, they want to know the stories and
Hey na na na, I wonder about the words they use again
Hey na na na, what's the story? and
Hey na na na, follow your shadow and
Hey na na na, I'll stay over here and get some rest

verse
Exit man can you see what's on my mind?
Exit man wants to give me perfect time
Exit man sometimes doesn't show his face
Exit man wants to put you in your place
