Story Behind The Song
I wanted to right a Christmas song. I looked at alliterations for Christmas and came up with "Christmas Child". Later that night, I was watching a TV show on Christmas Eve about orphans. A little boy said, "I wish Santa Claus could find a home for me." That choked me up. So, I thought, that's what I'll write the song about - except for a girl.

Christmas Child

Verse 1
I wished Santa Clause could find a home for me.
With a pink bicycle under a frosted Christmas tree.
A dad to take me to my first soccer game.
A mom to play dress up and a new last name.
Chorus 1
I was their Christmas child
Two pig tails and pink hair bows,
With freckles a cross my tiny nose
I was their Christmas child
Verse 2
I helped mom make ... a dozen rain deer sugar cookies
Homemade bread, and chocolate covered candies
I sat on Dad's knee in my new warm country home
I thought, "When I'm grown, I want a Christmas child for my own."
Chorus 2
She'll be my Christmas child
Two pig tails and pink hair bows,
With freckles a cross her tiny nose
She'll be my Christmas child
Bridge
Years ago on Christmas day, an accident took my parents away
But the real Christmas Child, promised me I'd see them in heaven one day.
Chorus 3
He is our Christmas Child
We'll be one big family
Through the birth of His royalty
He is our Christmas Child
