Story Behind The Song

I wrote the song for my debut album. I was watching the State Of Origin (hence the title) which is an Australian football game series similar to the Superbowl or World Cup. I wanted to capture the vibe and feeling of sport and the pride that comes with it, before money and sponsorship got in the way of pride and passion. Another one of those songs that wrote itself in probably an hour and a half, and came together quite nicely

The tune is a mid-tempo piece in C major, and features a soaring melody and a ZZ-top inspired bass line.
