Story Behind The Song
Written and recorded in one day with every instrument being played by Declan Gallen. The song was born out of the frustration Gallen felt with his musically and artistically talented best friend who'd decided to give up on dreams of being in a band in favour of a crappy bank job.
Song Description
Very much reminiscent of 80s rock such as New Order and the Cure, Hide from the Cold is a catchy yet credible indie song about the challenges we face in our mid-twenties. It deals with questions of conformity and careers versus dreams and ideals. It asks the listener what are they afraid of? Why are we scared to dream? At what point do we accept mediocrity and routine as a standard?
In 2007 after a short download only release, Hide From The Cold reached number one in the QBS alternative music charts in Qatar in the middle east. It stayed there for 2 consecutive weeks.
