Story Behind The Song
This song was inspired by a friend's experience with an arranged marriage at an early age (16). The dramatic differences between marrying for love and marrying for family struck me deeply. What would it be like, I thought, to be the young woman who, in the midst of pressure from her family and husband, chooses instead her own path and strikes out on her own?
Song Description
Be sure to listen all the way to the magnificent end! This song begins tenderly and quietly but culminates in its grandiose and heartbreaking overdriven guitar solo and finale. Loosely, the song tells the story of a young woman who, forced into an arranged marriage by her family, decides to strike out on her own and live on her own terms. Themes include hope, change, courage, and independence.

Lyrics
Step on board, the train?s about to roll
Grab your bags and check your ticket, go
You?re leaving Rome for good
You can see the green of passing seas
Beyond the Andalee, the end of Eve
Still you think you?re all mixed up
You had a sure guarantee
Still you think you?re all mixed up
He had a fine pedigree
They took your yesterday
And said you had to stay
You pushed them all away
You said, ?I know what?s right for me
?As a girl, as a girl
?What?s right for me, what?s right for me.?
