Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song right after the launch of the Iraq War, when everything seemed dark and depressing. Fortunately, my wife and I had just had a baby, which forced me to focus on the joy of a new life and how every new development in his life was a cause for celebration.
Song Description
This song juxtaposes the joy of self-discovery in a child, who is unaware of and unaffected by the problems of the world.

Lyrics
On the day I found my hands
A soldier died in the desert sand
On the day I found my hands
You said look at our fine young man
On the day I found my hands
On the day I found my feet
An iceberg melted in the horrible heat
On the day I found my feet
You said look at him ain't he sweet
On the day I found my feet
I don't want to make too much of it
All this talk of impending doom
I just want to laugh at everything
And see the faces walking round the room
On the day I found my voice
The TV droned on making senseless noise
On the day I found my voice
You said we made a perfect choice
On the day I found my voice
I don't want to make too much of it
All this talk of impending doom
I just want to laugh at everything
And see the faces walking round the room
The song your singing in my ear
Drives away any thought I have of
What will become of me.
On the day I found you
The sky turned into an azure blue
On the day I found you
You said look at what we can do
On the day that I found you
