Story Behind The Song
I saw a beautiful punk-rock girl on the subway in NYC that had very obvious track marks on her arms and neck. It was shocking, She was so normal and beautiful looking, that I couldn't believe she was hooked and tearing herself up inside. The irony was that she could have been looking at everyone else around her and thinking the same thing about them. I started to wonder why we do things that we do even if they are bad for us or dangerous or whatever, and realized that everyone wants to be loved. We will do anything to get that feeling or something like it. Once you get that feeling you can't live with out it. This can be dangerous or it can be lifesaving. Some people turn to a lover, a friend, their career, or God while others find drugs, abuse, violence. What's the difference?
Song Description
This song addresses how empty people feel inside sometimes, no matter who or what they are, and their need to fill the voids in their lives. Ultimately there is an initial choice, be it a drugs, another person, etc. Some things are good and somethings are bad, but sometimes if the need is strong enough it doesn't matter as long as you fill the space and keep filling it until the emptiness is gone.
