Story Behind The Song
This was originally part of my Christmas oratorio, Earthbound (a story of angels).
Song Description
Offbeat story of Christmas from the viewpoint of the Angels. Sounds a little like the Chordettes' Mr. Sandman from 1955.

Lyrics
GROUNDED (Song of the Angels)
On the night of our Savior?s birth, a host of angels sailed the sky over Bethlehem.
But the heavy hearts of the humans pulled the angels down and down?
Flying over the humans (pitiful humans) had a certain appeal.
They were amusing. We were refusing to believe they were real.
Chorus
And it seems we flew over an ocean of perplexingly human emotion.
And who ever thought we?d be shaken like the tail of a kite.
But the traffic appeared to be heavy, flying over the City of David
When we were down and grounded from flight, on that terrible wonderful night.
Suddenly we were feeling, and we were reeling through hysterical air.
No time to question tearful depression, or compassionate care.
(repeat chorus)
Then we saw something amazing, watching the Holy Birth.
The hearts of men flew on wings of joy, while we were pulled even closer to earth.
Grounded in Jesus. Drowning in Jesus isn?t really so bad.
Grounded and human?nice to feel human, but so lonely and sad.
(repeat chorus)
On that terrible wonderful night when we fell to the earth.
On that terrible night? that wonderful night!
