The song was written in his living room when on a day of reflections in his life he looked back and started to notice a pattern, a pattern of life that took him through a rollercoaster ride of good and bad but yet kept on going like the waves in the ocean ... "life is a wave and it's up to you to get up and ride it or let it come crashing down on you" so though all that had happened Eric has been destined to make things "Simple, not complicated"
