Consider Me (All I Ask)

Story Behind The Song

During the period, in which I wrote the song, I couldn't seem to catch the attention of any decent Black woman. Everone else (white & hispanic) gave me full attention, but sistas just didn't.

Song Description

Song is about a man abandoned by his Black women & his question to them to consider him. Hence, the chorus "All I Ask is Consider Me."

Lyrics

"Selector, play a' old song."
"Everyone listen closely. Yanki Black is no fakin'. Mi attitude is no braggadocios. Mi no braggadocios. Watch dis. Mi only want ya to listen. This song is no bullshit. Mi no' want ya to wastin' my time. This song is only fo' de ladies. Black is mi baby. Watch dis."
All I ask...All I ask...All I ask...All I ask...
Sisters always sayin' things when they see me wit' a white girl,
but don't even know my situation.
The only right they have in gettin' mad...
is the fact that I'm militant in talkin' in a Black way.
My first shot attitude was never date another...
outside of my race, the duties of real brother.
The looks of a sister, as opposed to others...
says it all in her firm shape and muti-colors.
When she opens her ears, she understands my struggle
and my pain when I'm tryin' to get over.
Cause the blacker the Black man, the better the next man.
It's somethin' that we both understand.
I loved her once or twice, and ready again,
but it seems we don't get along but as friends.
As far as intimacy goes, I aint got no beef.
It's just love I want and need.
All I ask...All I ask...All I ask...All I ask...
All I ask is consider me,
cause there are other ethnic group of girls who really like me.
I wanna give the sisters a chance,
show'em that I am the right man,
real man that's a Black man.
Don't even say that I sold out,
cause I tried to give the sisters a chance and I told ya...
I'm lonely and I need a girl in my life;
not just for sex, eventually my wife.
All I ask is consider me, cause I know what you've gone through in the past.
All I ask is consider me, cause I know my love, for you, gonna last.
All I ask is consider me, Queen to King, like our original kins.
All I ask is consider me, cause not only I'm Black, I'm still a lonely man.
I pray to God every chance I get.
Sometimes it seems like it's never meant.
One girl broke my heart and tried to play me,
and all the others just wanted to lay me,
or some just wanted to tease;
have me taking'em on the town. "Can I get a kiss?" "Nigga Please!"
See this kinda attitude had me on the defense,
like a few or even many;
who tries to do the right things for our kind,
but on your back side, they rob ya blind.
Havin' ya cross the line, cause ya angry.
And that's me for real, but I aint shame and...
the only shame that I find is when sisters are disrespectin',
and brothers are disrespectin'.
Maybe that's why I can't get a girl of my dreams,
cause their bad, as it seems.
All I ask is consider me, cause I know what you've gone through in the past.
"Roots style..."
All I ask is consider me, cause I know my love, for you, gonna last.
"Roots style..."
All I ask is consider me, Queen to King, like our original kins.
"Roots style..."
All I ask is consider me, cause not only I'm Black, I'm still a lonely man.
"Listen now..."
Dancehall:
Mi gwan talk 'bout ya live 'pon mass.
Mi gwan talk 'bout ya live 'pon mass.
Mi gwan talk 'bout ya live 'pon mass.
So ya action's affected.
Watch dis.
Mi gwan talk 'bout ya live 'pon mass.
Mi gwan talk 'bout ya live upon mass.
Mi gwan talk 'bout ya live 'pon mass,
but it doesn't mean mi accept it.
Watch dis.
I wanna tell everybody. Listen,
ya gotz to live it when ya preachin' and teachin' it.
How can ya be mad my brothers,
when ya treatin' sisters as if their step or non-blood.
And sisters doin' the same to brothers. Turnin' 'em down,
cause they ain't got no money for right now.
It's disappointing, cause I got a good job,
an education; a church man and all.
I like social gatherin's. I'm not a party type.
I don't like the freaks who come out at night.
All I ask...All I ask...All I ask...All I ask...
All I ask is consider me,
not for only a fling and get rid o' me. Be friend o' me.
There're many kinds o' girls who really like me,
so don't ya act real mad when ya see me...
with a different shade than yo' own...
and remember when ya treated me wrong, the chance was yours.
All I ask...
