The Gaze of God

Story Behind The Song

This came to me and was my first song. Mollie plucked it out on her cello and she told me she never had to change a word or a beat of what I had written. I have never to write a song in that manner since, and I doubt I ever will be able to.

Song Description

This cuts to everything that I believe in. To stand in awe and sleep at ease, and to somehow soothe people, and have them singing a harmony of souls, would be my heaven.

Lyrics

I should like to live a life of love,
to stand in awe and sleep at ease.
to feel the touch of the morning sun
and sense the rush of the evening breeze
and all the while to please the Gaze of God

I should like to see all children learning, following their parents' lead, to help and care about everyone and to try and share with all in need, and all the while to please the Gaze of God

And I should like to see people full of hope,
none beaten downby baseless fears
but clear in truth and full of dreams
that work to soothe and dry the tears
and throught this please the Gaze of God

And we should like all people singing
And we should like all people singing

a harmony of souls a single sound
gathered in praise for all our lives
in warm embrace of the love we found
and through this please the Gaze of God.
