Story Behind The Song
I was at the home of a good friend just after new year and I asked him if he and his wife had gone out on New years Eve, he said no then with a smile said, "Hey, staying in is the new going out!" I thought what a brilliant title for a song. Later that night when I lay in bed I had the 1st chorus lyric and tune running through my head, I got out of bed and wrote it down on a scrap of paper so I'd remember it. The next day I went to the computer and wrote all the remaining lyric very quickly and it then hung around my head for sometime before I went to my writing/recordeing partner Jorden Milnes to record it at his studio. We recorded it in a day, Jorden adding the instrumental break and working out the chords to compement the top line and also sang it.

Lyrics
Staying in is the new going out
No more crazy wild late nights
No more hazy drunken fights
No more standing ten deep at the bar
No more standing in the rain
No more staggering down the lane
Lookin? for taxis that never seem to come
People say I?ve changed
That I?m acting kind of strange
They don?t know it?s all because of you
(chorus)
So just sit down next to me
Lets relax, watch TV
We can wisper, we don?t need to shout
?cos staying in is the new going out
No more mornings layed in bed
No more banging in my head
No more wondering last night has gone
No more memories I forgot
No more acting what I?m not
No more lunchtime hair of the dog
Yes I know I?ve changed
But my life?s been re-aranged
?cos nothings better then waking up with you
(chorus)
So lay down here, by my side
My arms are open wide
This is what our love is all about
?cos staying in is the new going out
Instrumental break
(chorus)
So as we?re lying in the dark
Oh you have made your mark
Of this one thing I really have no doubt
Staying in is the new going out
