Story Behind The Song

Playing at a small social gig, the "piano player" tellin this story notices how all the women are looking down their noses at him, as if he isn't worthy somehow of even a second glance while they smile and and flirt with the seemingly tall rich and handsome men at the party. The pianist sees one lady who goes out of her way to give him a disapproving sneer as they make eye contact, and he imagines the dialog that is the song. After he's said his piece (in his mind ) he comes out of his "daydream" and realizes he's still there, doing his job, playing piano at a small gathering.
