Punk Paradise

Story Behind The Song

Wrote this song in Houston while my dad was dying from Cancer. I was having trouble greiving and was struggling to feel something remotely meloncholy and for some insane reason this abtract song took shape. :)

Song Description

There is actually four people I am referring to when I say 'He'. One is of course Jesus. One is myself. One being my late father. The last one is a musical Icon who died in 1994. This is why the lyrical content is a little racey at parts. I was trying to capture all characters the song is about one description. There was a day while I was at the Hospital and my dad was urinating blood, thus, the line; "pissed blood and turned the dirt into red mud". This part of course was in reference to Jesus turning water to wine. The " Rejected Rockstar," part was sort of how I was feeling toward the people in Houston that gave me praises for my music, but quickly turned their backs when it really counted. The "Punk Rock God" part is was a cynical jab at Kurt Cobain(whom I greatly admire) and is reluctance to be accept the Godly-Like role his music issued.

Verse 1:
Rejected rockstar, used to be an angel.
Punk-Rock-God, a day tripper.

Pissed blood, and turned the dirt into red mud.
Some dark messiah, with dark disciples.

Chorus:
Just lead me, I'm easy. And I'll be true too.
And I know more, and they're all whores.
And they'll be true too.

Verse 2:
Last supper, last orgy, and you're looking for a traitor now.
And it's the girl in the blue jeans.

I wouldn't forgive her, I'd probably kill her.
But you're addicted to the pain it brings.
My dark messiah, libido insane.

Chorus:

Verse 3:
We had a funky time, blood lust and red wine.
Went mad but it's all divine, your Daddy's callin'
so it's time to shine.

Now you're on your way, to Punk Paradise.
Come back, and save us soon, we'll be here,
waitin' on you.
