Story Behind The Song
A turbocharged diesel engine driving a hydraulic system makes wonderful noises. Add air brakes and smashing glass and you?ve got a symphony. With the exception of a little bit of electric piano in the background, all of the sounds in this piece were sampled from trash and recycling trucks doing what they were meant to do. When the sound of an accelerating turbocharged diesel is pitch-shifted out of its normal frequency range, you get moans that sound almost human from a calliope with marvellous overtones.
